I have been struggling to grow shiitake in the past, I know this variety requires some patience and can take up to 3-4 months before it is done producing. I ordered my first Shiitake kit from a different vendor on Amazon about 4-5 months ago and ended up only getting a few mushrooms with very flat caps that really didn't even look like the shiitake I have seen. I wanted to try a different brand and saw this pop up on Amazon. I am about 6 weeks in and I just harvested my first batch, this kit produced much more than I would have expected! The mushrooms taste great! Probably the best I have had, they are very dense. I am working on my second batch now. I've read that I should submerge the block in cold water for 10-12 hours after a big harvest and I am going to try that and hope for another like the first one. This is a great kit for the money and their customer service is amazing. Definitely will be back!

I bought this did exactly as instructed, not one mushroom grew infact it has now turned moldy .

Unbelievably hardy.. ok so this is how I almost killed the whole world while unboxing them. I had been cleaning when my package arrived and having a raging case of ADHD decided to start my mushrooms on the counter I had just wiped down ..with mr. Clean and why bother putting the cap on the cleaner . You can guess what happened . I put the mushroom block on a big glass plate and promptly knocked the bottle of Mr clean over, spilling it into the plate. I instantly rinsed it off but I'll be darned if a week later I can see growth! It's one growing method I would not recommend but ya. I'll take pictures soon
