I just received this for my son. I get that it has coal tar in it but OMG the smell!. Is it supposed to smell like gasoline(petrol) and burning tires?

Unfortunately, the smell is not great. It won't be as strong after it's rinsed out, but I often follow the washing with a little bit of regular shampoo or conditioner (just a small amount, not a deep scrub) to drown out the smell. It's worth it, depending on how much trouble the psoriasis is causing.
