Donna's Recipe by Tabitha Brown | Sweet Potato Pie Extra Creamy Moisturizing Shampoo – Sulfate-Free, Deep Hydration, Vegan, 8 oz

Full disclosure, I’m a white woman (mayonnaise American lol) and I have very fine 3A hair with a scalp that can easily becomes greasy and using conditioner is out of the question for me as it weighs down my hair and becomes greasy within hours. It also doesn’t help that I live in Houston Texas and the combination of humidity, sweat, and frizz is a year round battle. So finding a moisturizing shampoo that is light can be very tricky and in my lifetime I have tried hundreds of brands (salon, dermatologist prescribed, OTC) in forms of cream cleanser, foam, gel, suds free, it just goes on. I find that products/companies aimed towards POC have always been my sweet spot. I use Girl Hair products such as Curl Cloud and their ACV conditioner because the consistency is like water and super refreshing without the weight and prevented shaving bumps when I had a super short/faded haircut. I told my barber about it and he now’s uses it for his locs as well as shampoo services in his shop for locs, dreads, twists (it’s that good). Since growing my hair out, I use it more like a clarifying treatment since it isn’t super moisturizing but it does make my scalp feel refreshed and super clean, especially in the summer. But THIS shampoo is the best I have ever used. I thought it would be a little heavy because it looks like lotion but really it’s just whipped and light. I don’t need conditioner at all, where as with Girl Hair, I need both in order for it to detangle my hair. This made my hair super soft, rinsed easily, and I was able to run the comb through my hair in the shower without it getting stuck. It also did not leave my scalp feeling greasy, even into the next morning/day. The smell is obsessive! I like that my hair still smells even after my hair dries. I never heat style/dry my hair so after it naturally dried, my hair was the curliest it had ever been and the volume was unmatched. My hair is also thinning with age and I shed a lot so since I saw some of the reviews saying it helped with hair growth I’ve become excited to see how that goes but whether it does or not, I will continue to use this shampoo. I haven’t tried any of the associated products because I think they might be to heavy for normal use but I may get something and use it as a overnight deep conditioning mask on occasion. I saw people complain about the price for the size and I must say it isn’t a big deal for me. My hair is shorter and fine so I don’t have to use as much but I can definitely see how it would be a problem for longer/thicker hair or someone with a much tighter curl pattern. Trust me, I’ve spent way more for even less product before so finding something that makes me really happy is worth it. So overall I highly recommend it as the smell is divine, it’s moisturizing but light, enhances my curls, and doesn’t leave my hair feeling greasy even after 24 hours.

GREAT smell!! Just like sweet potato pie, reminds me of fresh harvest and Thanksgiving and Christmas, lol. Lathers very well, thick and leave hair feeling clean but moisturized, (not stripped like some shampoo's do). Decent value for the cost. I am a repeat buyer and had this, along with several other products from this line on auto ship for a while.

Good shampoo, pricey, yes it is. Not greasy, thick and creamy, cleans the hair and scalp very well. Leaves my hair soft and has good slip for finger detangling. Give it a try if the budget allows it. I had to wait to get it. Glad I did, smells delicious.

Bottle size could be better. I used these products today to wash my hair and the scent is more like a Sugar Cookie vs Sweet Potato Pie. I used 3 baseball size pumps to get it to lather up. As far as for hair type I have a curly pattern. Also it does not leave a sticky residue after you wash & condition your hair. Is it valued for the money? Kind of but it should of been in a bigger size bottle to make it $15. To me personally this bottle could be like between $5 and $10 due to it being so small. My scalp was left moisturized and did not have any irritation at all. I will be buying this again !!.

I honestly don’t remember my entire experience but I do remember that it is so far much much better for me , than most Ive tried before. I do know that it felt luxurious and creamy and smelled very goood as I washed and conditioned my hair with the shampoo and conditioner. I was also very very thankful that there was no leakage in transportation of the products. I didn’t get the full effect yet of using this product line because I couldn’t afford at the moment to buy most of the product line but I will as soon as I can. Overall I say the shampoo and conditioner are great products and it’s worth the try and if you can afford to, try the rest of the product line for full effect. My hair is gray and chemical free and on the dry side and I believe my hair is 4C. God bless and hope the products work for you !!!!
