Will this scanner locate post tension cables in slab.

This scanner has difficulty finding wood studs under sheetrock. Enough said? One of my worst purchases.

Can this find an electrical wire in my yard or a copper gas line?

No, I don't think so, I guess this device is based on magnetism. So it can't detect other metal stuffs like copper, aluminum etc.

Will this detect trusses from the roof through comp shingles and OSB?

it will but you have to make the wheels in constant contact with surface and run it along with certain pressure and same speed left to right. surface ideally should be flat in order to get accurate reading.shingles are on toip of each other,so this will give you wrong reading.
