Libbey Preston 16-Piece Tumbler and Rocks Glass Set

I love these glasses!! My boyfriend recently complained about all of the mismatched glasses in our cupboards and our oversized dish set taking up too much room and how he'd like to just 'throw 'em all out' and start over, so of course - I took that as my invitation to do just that! I must admit that although there are many positive reviews for this item, the one reviewer who wrote that these glasses looked cheap and were of poor quality did ride in the back of my mind as I anxiously awaited my order. I think I nearly tripped over myself rushing to get this package indoors to rip through the box. I was a little disappointed when I saw the photos on the box (they don't do the glasses any justice), but the moment I pulled the first glass out of the box I knew I had done good!! Beautifully shaped, no defects in the glass and a nice weight that make these glasses feel more expensive than they are. Even the pictures online do little justice to these glasses. The base looks a little frosted in the online photos, but that's just because of the white backdrop. Nothing but smooth, clear, glass. The boyfriend loves them too). To the reviewer who wrote that these glasses look cheap and are of poor quality, I can only assume that you must have purchased glasses that were of similar style to these, but not the actual ones advertised here. These are quality glasses. ******************************** ******UPDATE 10/27/2011********* ******************************** Just came back to repurchase a new set as a gift and was disappointed to see that the product is not currently available. I'm really surprised to see all of the negative reviews regarding the durability of these glasses. None of my glasses ever broke in the dishwasher at my apartment, when in transit from my apartment to my house by movers, as a result of being hand washed in the sink (current house doesn't have a dishwasher) or having guests or even young children handle them. That said, I did lose a handful of these glasses over a period of a few months due to improper handling from a new roommate of mine. One broke because he left it balancing precariously on its side on top of a dish rack that he had overloaded, which later fell to the ground when he went to put his dishes away. Two others broke simply because he literally just 'dropped' them into the kitchen sink while walking by. Seriously. I actually witnessed him just casually 'dropping' one of my glasses, held out at arms length, into the sink!!! Of course I confronted him and according to him, he just wasn't paying attention. Obvious, because the sound of the glass hitting the inside of my metal sink didn't even phase him and had I not said something, he'd have just strolled right on out of the kitchen. Sometimes I wonder if that boy's on something...) and another two broke because he had rested them in the sink on their side and then piled a TON of dirty pots, pans and dishes on top of them. I was the one who discovered those two glasses broken after I decided to clean up his mess rather then wait for him to get around to it. Neither glasses were 'shattered' but had large cracks running down the length of them and fell apart when I went to pick them up. Of course, he denies being the catalyst for my glasses suddenly breaking however... since I've restricted his use of household beverage containers to the cleaned out mason jars and plastic tumblers that I keep as backup for large parties (with the threat that he would need to buy me a replacement set of glasses if just one more broke) - my Libbey glasses have miraculously stopped breaking again. While I realize there's the distinct possibility that something has changed with this product since I last purchased it, my own experience makes me question how many of these complaints stem from people like my housemate... He really, truly, sincerely does not believe that he's at fault for any of the glasses breaking - even when he was witness to the glass breaking as a result of his own actions (such as the case of the glass that fell over when he was putting away his dishes). I really just don't understand where he's coming from... I went years with these glasses never breaking, even in the hands of my boyfriends young children. I for one hope that regardless of what the issue is today (defective product or defective customers) - they figure out the problem, fix it, and get this product made available again. These are great glasses and I was really hoping to gift them to a few close friends for the holidays.

The moment I unboxed them, the first thing I noticed was the quality and thickness of the glass—they feel substantial in the hand without being heavy or clunky. The wave pattern adds a subtle, modern texture that makes them look far more expensive than they are. These glasses strike the perfect balance between everyday durability and a stylish, elevated look. They’re sturdy enough for daily use, yet attractive enough to set out when guests come over. The set includes both rocks and tumbler sizes, which makes it easy to use them for anything—water, cocktails, iced coffee, juice, or even dessert presentations.

I bought the Yucatán style almost a year ago and they’ve held up well. None have broken through daily use. And even though we have hard water, they haven’t started to get that scratchy, dingy look from putting them in the dishwasher. They look good for our daily use and I’ve used with nice dinners as well. They came packed well. The rims are even and none have chipped or came chipped. I think these are high quality and I wouldn’t hesitate to buy them again.

These glasses are so nice, they have a nice feel and weight to the bottom, and the two styles are perfect for various uses including cocktails like mojitos (tall) and manhattans (short). They look distinguished and not cheap, dishwasher safe and I just love the look of them! I ditched all my mix and match glasses and even bought a second set as backups - the only feedback I have is they are thin above the base and break easily - already lost 3, but worth it. I keep the second set in the box and pull from there when they break.

I bought these a few years ago and after a few months of usage I switched over to Bormioli Rocco Murano Cobalt glasses, which I have been using since. I like these Libbey's: while they weren't the best choice for me personally, they are good glasses nonetheless. These are very attractive glasses and they look much nicer than a value glass pack you would find at Ikea or Walmart. The use of smoke color looks really cool, plus it does not show fingerprints nearly as much as a clear glass does. The shapes themselves are great cosmetically & functionally: I like how they move in a conical direction, as the wider top portion makes them easy to hold and harder to slip out of the hands. The sizes are also great...18 and 13 ounces are really nice sizes to have, and the smaller glass still having a 13oz capacity I find makes it more useful than a smaller glass of a lesser capacity. Additionally, the use of the heavily weighted bottom I find to improve stability in that it makes it harder to accidentally knock these over when the glass is only partly filled. While a minor detail relative to the entire design, I find this is a nice convenience. The price also deserves attention...as you are getting 16 pieces, this is a really good value. The price isn't much more than bargain glasses, but the design of these are MUCH nicer than than bargain glasses. As this is one of those products you will use & interact with every single day, I think that spending a little more money on these will yield you a product you enjoy using much more than a bargain one. However, I do agree with other users who have noted that the glass at the top portion of these is pretty thin, and I broke two over a few months. It's worth noting that I am hard on glasses, and I wash them through a dishwasher that uses steam to sterilize (which can be very hard on what goes in it.) So I found the very thick Bormioli Rocco Murano glasses to work best for me (and also because they are textured for a little better grip, can withstand hard usage, stack super well, and the thick glass tends to reduce perspiring greatly over thinner ones.) So while some may find a thicker glass is a better match for them personally (which was the case for me), overall, these are really good glasses.

Yes, they're great, really nice glasses. Tall ones are nice in your hand and the smaller ones are also nice in your hand nice glass, very clean, shiny looking

Love these glasses! I've been looking for glasses to match my black-and-red plates for ages and Libbey finally made something that works! I'm surprised they don't do more colors since their blue ribbon glasses are so iconic. These look smart and are sturdily built, though I will say the shorter glasses feel heavier and more sturdy; I wish the taller glasses were made like this since it makes them feel a bit more fragile than I'd like. However, glasses are, by their very nature, fragile so as long as you're careful like you should be anyway, this isn't a problem.

I decided I needed matching glasses and donated all the mismatched ones in my cupboard. These glasses are the best value for money spent for a long time. They are easy to hold, not flimsy and look good. Not fancy but look like I paid more for them than I did. Wonderful buy, very happy.

I just replaced our glassware with these and was throughly impressed with the weight and quality of these glasses! They look super bougie and you would definitely think they were a lot more expensive than they are! Very happy with the colour and thickness of the glass
