HUAWEI P20 Pro 128 GB/6 GB Single SIM Smartphone - Twilight (United Kingdom Version)

I ended up buying 3 of these - one for me and the other two for my sons for Christmas. Reason I got one myself was that I couldn't believe the price so opened mine before the Amazon 30 day return (before Christmas)... Personally I moved from being a life long Samsung owner but now this kit has literally blown the Samsung's out of the water for functionality and value. The OS is so simple to use and not bloated with non-useable apps etc. So speedy and so far exceptionally reliable. Not a single issue - Turned it on, transferred from my old Android and then it did a system update. Battery life is brilliant - charge every couple of days if that.. I was so impressed with Huawei that I went and bought the Huawei watch 2 (got it yesterday in an Amazon deal so still playing).. Would recommend Huawei if looking for great value and high specs. I'm converted ! P.s. Kids are blow away with the phones too - which is really who they were bought for.

Battery life is unreal on this thing and the rear facing camera is so good. Coming from IPhone I didn't realise what I was missing. Important thing for people to know is that the front facing camera isn't all that good for group selfies. Solo selfies come out good but group selfies always come out blurred or with poor quality. That comment though holds no weight on my overall happiness with this device! It's a great piece of kit and I'll be handing it down to my girlfriend once I can get my hands on a P30 (she can't wait)

It's camera features are fantastic! I have taken professional-like photos with ease. It's phone and messaging also work very well. I however have issues with its battery, which hardly lasts three days before next charge. The phone screen is quite sensitive as my device has already picked scratches hardly three months into the phone use. Except for the phone glitches outline here, this device is an excellent device one must have with its huge data storage facility.

I didn't like the quality of the sound when talking (phone/Whatsapp/Skype). You feel the phone shaking in your hands and sound is not totally clear. Sometimes it's difficult to hear what the person is saying (both ways). Another thing I didn't like: in my previous Android phone, I had an icon that showed all the installed applications and this feature is not available in P20 Pro. Regardless of these 2 things, the phone is really great, specially the camera.

I have been an iPhone user since the very first day it was launched and in that time have had every iteration of the iPhone up to the X. I tried Android phones a couple of times but was underwhelmed, however this phone has changed all of that. I bought it as I use the camera on my phone a lot, for me its the most important function other than the phone of course. Incidentally this phone also has 2 SIM cards which I need as I live between 2 countries. This phone takes fantastic pictures and is especially good in low light situations. The build quality is exceptional and it has a striking colour scheme (twilight). In the past I felt Apples closed environment was preferable but now Android has more than caught up. I was particularly impressed with how easy it was to make the transfer for iOS to Android. Merely place the 2 phones on top of each other open the phone clone app and wait, after about 20 minutes my new Android was virtually he same as my old iPhone X but about £300 cheaper. Thats a lot to to pay for a name! Other than that there is little to say. Sound = ***** Build = ***** Camera = ***** Ease of transfer and use = ***** Dual SIM So far there has been nothing to complain about this phone. If it carries on in this manner I will be sticking to Android. Apple are producing a dual SIM phone this year but new features like this always seem to lag behind Android whereas in the past Apple was head of the pack. Sorry Apple, you lost me...

I ordered this phone specifically to use Google pay but on receiving it realised it doesn’t support that feature. In fact this phone doesn’t actually support any features that are meant to be available on it. I immediately requested a refund and sent the phone back exactly as instructed, and was assured I’d receive a full refund as soon as the phone was received back to where I bought it from. Fast forward almost 3 weeks and I STILL haven’t received my refund and upon checking the status of the refund every day, I’m finding the refund date is being pushed back a full day at a time, meaning the date my money is meant to go back into my bank account never actually arrives. PLEASE SORT THIS OUT ASAP!!! It’s getting ridiculous now and there’s no way of contacting the seller to ask for an up to date explanation of where my refund is!! BUYER PLEASE BEWARE!!

Overall a great phone, fast..... Unfortunately tho the battery quality doesn't match the phone. I'm having to charge the phone few times on a daily basis.

Strong n reliable n waterproof. Never bothered w/ protection case...After 1,000 times dropping on concrete i was a phone hater the tampered back slighty cracked so its why it finally got water damaged, it stopped working when i washed it with water n soap. Which before the crack it could swim in bath with me no probs. In 2025 NO lags NO freeze etc and still fast

A seguito della rottura del mio amato Mate 10 Pro, ho voluto dare ancora fiducia a Huawei, anche perchè usando 2 sim al momento è ancora la casa che lo supporta meglio, anche se nell'attesa ho potuto utilizzare un eccellente Xiaomi... Rispetto al Mate 10 Pro quello che non mi è piaciuto di questo P20 Pro è il design, troppo anonimo e inoltre sembra leggermente più fragile e meno bilanciato, forse qualcosa sotto l'aspetto ricezione, ma purtroppo credo sia imputabile al mio operatore che ultimamente mi fa imbestialire... Inoltre ho scelto la colorazione nera perchè mi sembra la più equilibrata, non c'è quello stacco tra cornici, back e front... Armonia pura... Detto questo, tutto il resto è superiore a cominciare dalla maggiore fluidità della 8.1, a breve arriverà anche Android Pie, il sensore anteriore, gli speakers, il pannello frontale e la fotocamera, la quale ti lascia letteralmente a bocca aperta. Gli scatti, avendo un po' di dimestichezza, risultano spettacolari con una definizione eccellente, bisogna saper dosare l'AI ed eventualmente disattivarla in determinate condizioni, buoni anche i video. Non rimpiango di aver potuto aspettare qualche offerta per il nuovo Mate 20 pro, questo device regge il confronto, almeno per le mie esigenze.

Pros: -Pantalla amoled que facilita mucho la visión en exteriores. -Triple camara con inteligencia artificial que modifica la escena según a que le vayas a hacer la foto. -Almacenamiento de 128GB. -Marcos reducidos -NFC (pagos para el móvil) -Bateria (4000mha de sobra para un día de uso e incluso 2) Contras: -Muesca que hace que la pantalla real no sea 6,1 -No tiene posibilidad de almacenamiento externo -El video no iguala la calidad de la foto. Telefono de Huawei con socket Kirin 970 y RAM para parar un tren. En mi opinión, al final, si buscas un telefono pequeño y manejable es el tuyo, si por el cambio eres un apasionado de grandes pantallas no, ya que la muesca hace que finalmente la pantalla se asemeje a 5,9". El formato de pantalla es 18:9 por lo que no rellena completamente al reproducir video 16:9 y puedes elegir entre hacer zoom o comerte las franjas negras. El mejor apartado que tiene sin lugar a dudas es la cámara, la cual hace unas fotografias increibles, también tienes un zoom que junto a la IA lo gestiona perfectamente. La batería te aguantará mas de un dia sin lugar a dudas, y incluso con poco uso, te llegará a los 2. No es compatible con carga inalambrica algo que he hechado muchisimo de menos.

I haven't been so satisfied with any phone since I had my very first smartphone (HTC) back in 2011. PROS: - Camera is awesome (I have a really high standards on this, being an amateur photographer with passion for fine-art). - Microphone is awesome (stereo). I sing and record songs from time to time. The quality is beyond all expectations. I didn't know the phone's microphone was that good when I bought it, so this was a very pleasant surprise. - WiFi is very stable and fast. Apps are installed within seconds. - So far I've installed about 4 software updates (within three months period), so Huawei makes a good job of keeping things up to date. - Interface (Huawei EMUI) is very friendly. I wouldn't want more. - In general, things run really smoothly. Even things like Super Mario Bros or Super Mario Kart (using Citra or Dolphin emulators) run really fast. - Being a programmer, I also used this phone as test web server (for Python/Django/NodeJS/React apps) using Termux. No complains so far. VERY SOFT CONS: I didn't want to call this "CONS" section, since I think this phone (and Huawei) really deserve a good credit as they made a fantastic job of making this piece of hardware shine. However, the built-in music player has been the only thing I would want to see improvements in. - You should give your MP3 files short names (if you have any), otherwise they don't appear in the built-in music player. - No option to broadcast audio in the built-in music player. - No way to customise the lock screen (item placements, widgets). I would highly recommend this phone to anyone. As for myself, the next time I buy a phone (for myself or a family), it would certainly be Huawei (this model or upgrade of it, like P30 Pro or perhaps Mate Pro).

Lo scorso anno mi sono trovato a criticare pesantemente il Huawei P10. Le cose quest’anno sono cambiate visto il netto miglioramento del produttore cinese sotto molti punti di vista, dopo un ottimo Mate 10 Pro, Huawei punta tutto su questo P20 Pro focalizzandosi principalmente su due aspetti: qualità fotografica e esperienza multimediale, adesso vi spiego tutto all'interno della recensione. Materiali e Design: ben fatto Huawei! Vista la riduzione al minimo della cornice superiore per mantenere alcuni elementi essenziali è inevitabile la presenza del notch, che possiamo anche nascondere tramite il software. La scocca è realizzata in vetro con angoli smussati che facilitano l’impugnatura del dispositivo. L’ergonomia tutto sommato è buona anche se il vetro lo rende scivoloso. La parte bassa, del frontale, è praticamente scopiazzata al Honor View 10. Huawei ha puntato molto anche sulle varianti cromatiche, questa Midnight Blue fa la sua bella figura, inoltre cambia sfumatura a seconda della diversa incidenza della luce. Huawei ha puntato molto sulla variante Twilight portando anche un innovazione per quanto riguarda le colorazioni, sono curioso di sapere quale sarà la variante cromatica più venduta, anche se mi sembra scontato. Il lettore delle impronte frontale resta a mio avviso la migliore soluzione da un punto di vista pratico, anche se diventa antiestetico, anche in questo caso si comporta sempre egregiamente sbloccando il device 8 volte su 10. Con questo P20 Pro ho usato principalmente lo sblocco con il volto visto che funziona molto bene in qualsiasi condizione di luce, a patto che manteniate la giusta distanza dal volto. Display: OLED Full HD+, la migliore scelta! Il miglior compromesso trà qualità e consumi e proprio il display che ha integrato huawei su questo device: Full HD+ di tipo OLED con 408 ppi. La qualità del pannello è buona con ottimi angoli di visuale e dei colori tendenti a tonalità fredde, ma possiamo comunque modificare la temperatura colore all’interno delle impostazioni. Gli angoli di visuale sono buoni con un contrasto eccellente e neri molto profondi come tutti gli OLED. Inoltre all’interno delle impostazioni e possibile andare a nascondere il notch. Tramite l’analisi, con il colorimetro, ho riscontato un Delta E non molto positivo per i colori primari e la scala di grigi ( il valore 3 è il massimo sotto cui stare) . I nis raggiunti sono ben 432 mentre la copertura sRGB è del 134.2%. Hardware: Kirin 970 fa il suo dovere Huawei non ha realizzato una nuova piattaforma hardware per questo P20 Pro mi si è affidata al buon Kirin 970 ulteriormente ottimizzato con Android 8.1. Come per tutti i top di gamma la fluidità è ottima, nell’apertura delle pagine web. Resto dell’idea che 6GB di RAM non servono a molto, ma qui ci sono e rappresentano una marcia in più per sfruttare al meglio il system on chip. La gestione della RAM e discreta con un utilizzo medio del 57%. La piattaforma hardware è la diretta concorrente della controparte Exynos e Qualcomm ma se la cava egregiamente. Peccato per la presenza del Bluetooth in versione 4.2 rispetto all’attuale 5.0. Le prestazioni delle GPU sono scontate, vista la potenza della Mali-G72. Tutti i titoli anche quelli che richiedono un maggiore sforzo dell’hardware si comportano in maniera eccellente. Le temperature registrate, con la camera termica, raggiungono picchi di 45 gradi sotto bencmark nulla di particolarmente preoccupante anche se con lunghe sessioni di gioco il calore al tatto da un po fastidio. Batteria, Audio e Ricezione: L’autonomia di questo P20 Pro è ottima si riesce tranquillamente a raggiungere le quasi 5 ore di schermo attivo e in giornate con un uso medio si riesce anche coprire due giorni di utilizzo. Come sempre il discorso batteria è molto soggettivo ma questa 4000 mAh si comporta in modo egregio. Anche Huawei segue gli altri produttori con la possibilità di godere di un audio stereo andando a sfruttare anche la capsula auricolare. La qualità audio è decisamente superiore inoltre, il sistema, è in grado di variare la consistenza del suono rispetto all'orientamento dello smartphone (verticale/orizzontale). La ricezione si comporta molto bene come il GPS. Fotocamere Il compatto fotografico, sulla carta, è impressionante. L’ottica principale è una 40 megapixel ƒ/1.8 RGB e sensore secondario in bianco e nero da 20 megapixel e apertura ƒ/1.6 ma troviamo anche un terzo sensore di tipo tele, zoom 3x, con apertura ƒ/2.4 da 8 megapixel e stabilizzazione ottica. A 40 megapixel non è possibile effettuare alcun tipo di zoom e il software non ci permetta di passare automaticamente a 10 megapixel per sfruttare lo zoom ottico, un tocco di praticità in più poteva starci. Parto analizzando le foto scattate a 40 megapixel. Tralasciando i dati tecnici, il livello del dettaglio offerto da questo sensore supera di gran lunga tutti gli altri top di gamma. Questo è associato ad un ottimo bilanciamento del bianco e una eccellente esposizione. Andando ad effetturare un crop sulle immagini si riescono a scorgere dettagli molto ben visibili e senza alcun tipo di rumore, cosa impossibile con una risoluzione più bassa. La terza fotocamera tele è la vera novità per Huawei visto che in questi anni ha scelto sempre di affiancare il sensore monocromatico. Questo tipo di ottica ci permette di avere una visione diversa grazie ad una profondità di campo differente. Certo il livello del dettaglio non è il massimo, soprattutto a 5x. Gli scatti in condizioni di scarsa illuminazione hanno sempre messo in crisi gli smartphone ed è proprio in questo ambito che un vero top di gamma si distingue. Huawei ha creato una modalità ad hoc chiamata notte. Sostanzialmente è possibile sfruttare una lunga esposizione, con una conseguente acquisizione di maggior luce, con l’importante supporto della stabilizzazione. La qualità degli scatti è ottima anche se ci sono dei contro in quanto si va a perdere la rapidità di scatto. Aspettare quei 7 secondi ( 4 per l’esposizione e 3 per l’elaborazione software ) non ci permette di effettuare degli scatti al volo La fotocamera anteriore è una 24 Megapixel ed è quella che mi ha convinto meno. La qualità degli scatti e buona ma tende molo a sovraesporre i soggetti. Inoltre in alcuni casi si percepisce una messa a fuoco non perfetta. Video: non ci siamo per niente! Considerando la qualità riscontrata nel compatto fotografico mi sarei aspettato un risultato analogo anche per i video ma purtroppo mi sbagliavo. La risoluzione massima di registrazione è il 4k a 30 fps ma in questo caso non è possibile sfruttare la stabilizzazione elettronica EIS, che Huawei ha tanto elogiato in fase di presentazione, quest’ultima non può essere utilizzata neanche a 60fps in full HD ma solo a 1080p a 30 fps. Un limite molto importante per un top di gamma considerando anche che la concorrenza ci permette di spingerci al 4K a 60fps e con tanto di stabilizzazione ottica. Inoltre è possibile anche registrare video in slow motion a 960 fps e qui la presenza della stabilizzazione si fa sentire. Il software non ci permette di passare, durante la registrazione, all'ottica tele con la classica icona 3x. Il passaggio è comunque possibile tramite il classico pinch-to-zoom ma questo crea fastidiosi scatti alla registrazione, speriamo che huawei metta una pezza con futuri aggiornamenti software. Conclusioni Tirare le somme su questo P20 Pro è molto difficile visto che al momento incarna tutte le caratteristiche del miglior top di gamma sulla piazza. Il limite più importante resta la registrazione video, per niente all'altezza di un device top, e una fotocamera frontale che non mi ha molto convinto. In un 2018, dove Samsung ha fatto un piccolo passo in avanti con il suo S9, Huawei fa un bel balzo in avanti con questo P20 Pro che vanta il miglior compatto fotografico del momento, un autonomia eccellente e prestazioni ai massimi livelli. Non tollero molto la somiglianza con Honor View 10 visto che si tratta di un prodotto di fascia inferiore a questo P20 Pro e soprattutto perchè un acquirente di questo device si aspetta un prodotto con un design "nuovo" e non con alcune piccole scopiazzature da altri prodotti. Il prezzo di listino di questo P20 Pro è alto, 899 euro, anche se già lo si trova sotto i 600 euro. Questo smartphone conferma ancora che tra midrange e top di gamma continua ad esserci una netta differenza, certo le prestazioni sono pressoché simili ma tutte queste piccole funzioni avanzate fanno la differenza. Il claim pubblicitario di questo P20 Pro è "un nuovo rinascimento della fotografia" mi sa che Huawei, a questo giro, ci è riuscita alla grande.
