External battery & Case, CasePower A3
I feel it was fortunate that for such an old phone iphone 3GS;That I could actually still find something to support the lose of battery integrety.I first started looking to replace the internal battery. When I ran into this product. My old protective case was falling appart anyway.I have been needing to charge my iphone once or twice a day.The external battery serves as it is advertised. But since I have been using it.It works for me as an on the go battery charger.I started noticing my iphone battery was loosing integrety when I let the battery deplete 40% or below. It would not hold a charge as well any more. With the CasePower A3 I try not to let my internal battery deplete below 70%-or-80%.Keeping the charge up on the internal battery as much as possible.Eventually the external battery will deplete, but not before the end of the day. Then I charge the external battery with the switch off.Bring it up to full charge. Then with the cord still plugged in on charge, turn the switch on so the internal battery can charge up.I would only leave the switch on if both batteries were depleted while out away from my charging unit,But I find that the integrety of the internal battery depletes the external battery quicker that way.And I noticed if you try to charge both batteries at the same time it takes forever! (all night or more). So I recomend leaving the switch off and first charge up your external battery. You will probably find the right balance for your phone. If your internal battery hardly holds a charge you should replace it.But for an internal battery like I have it will help.I may later end up replacing my internal battery, and go through the process of taking my phone apart.I can't help thinking it is at risk of breaking something.(Apple products are so hard to work on apposed to Windows based, Android, & compatible computers). If your iphone still holds a charge up to one day,You should get this!It is a great advantage. The only drawback is with two batteries to maintain,My phone remains on charge about twice as long. That is just the physics of the thing.Based on the other reviews,I think the problems are with leaving the switch in the on position too much.Especially when you have to charge it.Just leave the switch off when you first have to charge your CasePower A3 battery. Then charge your iphone with the switch on.Be sure to turn the switch off again after your iphone is fully charged.Or the depleted integrety of the internal battery will quickly deplete the external battery. Also switch it back off when your iphone registers 100%.I also found that the first charge of the CasePower A3 battery takes a while. It did not come to full charge until the second day as I attempted to bring it to a full charge.Just be patient, it will get there eventually.I hope this information will help you keep a better balance with your iphone too.

Solved my battery problem
Got an old 3GS that has very weak battery that would last 4 hours max, even if no calls or browser use. This battery makes it last all day and provides just the right amount of protection as well. Very nice fit and finish. I would buy another as this price point is 1/2 what it would cost me for new iphone internal battery and has more power.Update - Oct 13, 2014:Been using daily for 3 months and still working. My system (iPhone internal battery plus the CasePower A3) will run about 1 hr talk time and 4-5 hrs standby, compared to 3 hrs talk time and 24 hrs plus standby when CasePower was new. I am not sure if the iPhoine internal battery is now weaker or shorted and thus drawing more power from the CasePower, or if the CasePower has become weaker in 3 months, but best I can tell it is weaker CasePower A3. So I think I noticed a shorter run time at about the 2 month old period, meaning the case may get noticeably weaker after 2-3 months of daily cycle use. I would still buy another for this price point since a new iPhone battery will run $60-80 installed. Reducing from 5 star to 4 star due to possible short battery cycle life keeping in mind I am not sure that the problem is with the case.Update - Dec 2, 2014:Changed rating back to 5 star. Been using over 6 months and would buy another one if this one broke. My battery on the 3GS was shorting out and creating the short battery life problem mentioned earlier. Replaced my internal iPhone battery Zeetron Iphone Premium Battery Replacement Kit (iPhone 3GS) and my phone is like new. With the addition of this great CasePower battery booster, I can run 2 days without recharge on standby (which varies of course depending on apps and usage). I am impressed that the CasePower has not shown cycle weakness after 6 months considering I have charged/cycled it daily. Fit and finish are still perfect as I cannot see the seam where it comes apart without my glasses. Looks like it was molded onto my phone permanently. Dropped phone twice with impact on upper right corner where rubber is not thick and screen cracked. This is not a robust drop protection cover, but I can see why they traded bulky rubber covers for slim designed battery booster to keep thickness reasonable. I like the design despite my screen cracking. Discovered the flashlight feature by accident where you hold down the button next to the charge indicator to toggle the flashlight on and off. Great for reading menus. I am considering buying another one as a backup, in case they stop making these for 3GS phones. Now I have a phone worth keeping long term for backup and travel.

Not a bad case
I like this case a lot, and I want to give it more stars, but I can't because of a few problems.First, the good stuff. When I got the case, I took the film off my iPhone 3's face and discovered that just the film, not the actual face, was scratched. So I'm glad the case came with a sheet of protective film. And I like the case's texture. Without a case, the iPhone is slick and tends to slide around. WIth this case, I can place it on surfaces in my car, and it won't slide very easily.I had to remove my previous case before I could take a picture. I don't have to with this one. And this case is light and easy to charge. It's amazing that something so small and light can charge my phone.I don't like that it doesn't have a belt clip, but I've gotten used to that. It's not too bulky to fit into my pocket, and the case's texture means that it doesn't slide if I tuck it into my waistband.I also don't like how it's lost its charging capacity in just a few months. The first few times I used it, it charged my phone from 20% to 100%. It doesn't do that anymore. Also, not long after I bought it, a little piece near the volume control broke off. The case is still useful and useable, so I'm keeping it.Despite the problems, I'd recommend it. It's a great concept. I'd give it a 3.5.

Works as intended.
Fits and works well, so far...I like that they've added a LED light to the casing, a feature that originaly did not exist on the phone.

seems like a decent case
Overall, this case seems to be nice. It fits the iPhone 3gs nicely. The case projects the sound coming from the iPhone towards you, but it sounds a bit muddled, but almost as loud as the speakers without the case. It also has a built in LED, so it essentially adds a flash (which you activate by holding the button on the backNow, the cons:The case blocks access to the dock connector, which could have been avoided by adding an adapter built in to the case, which charges the phone, but also can be docked. The mute switch can't be switched back to unmute, unless you have a flat object or nails.

Works well with my iPhone 3gs. The flashlight is ...
Works well with my iPhone 3gs. The flashlight is a bonus. Used it for 2 months now with no problems. Often a message saying that the device is not compatible with the phone pops up but I think that's just an Apple glitch, because I just slide to unlock, it disappears & everything still works perfectly.
