What is the width of the flat cooking surface in the bottom of this pan?

The width of the flat cooking surface in the bottom of the All-Clad 41106 Stainless Steel Tri-Ply Bonded Dishwasher Safe 10-Inch Fry Pan with Lid/Cookware, Silver is 7 inches (I got out a ruler and just measured the dimensions on the same pan in my kitchen).

Why is the fry pan with a lid cheaper than the fry pan without one (4112 vs. 4112S). Is there really a difference other than one having a lid?

It is the same pan. The one with the lid is a promotion from All Clad. Get the one with the lid!!

What is the starburst finish? The photo definitely looks shinier than the others that appear more like a brushed stainless finish.

The bottom of the pan is smooth but appears to have a starburst when you look at it. It is a shiny finish. Great pan to cook with and cleans up easily

Is there a handle cover for the pan that can be used when pan has been in the oven?

They sell several different silicone ones on amazon but it doesn't come with one. I have not tried cooking with it in the oven yet but I would use oven mitts not just a sleeve as your pan handle is pretty long and these sleeves don't look very long. With proper oven safe mitts you can grab it further and use other mitt as well steering the front of the pan as you remove it from the hot oven. The all clad pan only has a long handle but the saute pan has another handle in the front.
