I started with the one piece unit, but depending on how you feel, how strong you are, and how awake your tamp will vary. That’s the problem unless you are striving for variety. So I tried one that would release with a click to know that you reached the advised 30# tamp. The problem I found with that one is since the radial tolerance between its tamping head and the portafilter cup was just a touch too large, when it would be pressed down and click, it would fling excess grinds up and over the top of the head leaving a mess. Being the grind is so fine it doesn’t take much. So I bought this one, it has a 30# compression spring and has the concentric rings that indent the top of the grind transferring the imprint. What I learned from this is that my grind wasn’t fine enough to see the pattern , being too course and allowing streaming. So I made it finer and haven’t gone back since, it changed everything about the taste , stopping streaming and pretty much all the issues I was having . I push down once and hold, lift and repeat once knowing that with the spring compression I have achieved the correct tamp with very minimal if any loss around the head. It’s my go-to and the others have become a decoration. Review: Use this every day for my espresso I like three bomber and their products. This is another great product from them. It is pretty easy. It has a spring loaded just pushed down and it goes.

Llevo varios meses usando este tamper y realmente es muy bueno, muy preciso y constante para tampear, cabe perfectamente en el portafiltro de 58mm y deja bastante limpio el puck. Lo uso de manera tanto comercial y para hogar y en ambos funciona perfectamente.

I really wanted to like this tamper especially at this price point. MHW-bomber seems like a good brand but I wasn’t impressed with this. The tamper came apart after the second use and it seems like a recurring issue based off other reviews. It is fairly simple to put back together but quite annoying to deal with when you’re in hurry. I also expected better quality and not having to deal with such an issue after only a couple times of use. The aesthetic of this tamper is nice though.

Fantastic tool! Works just as described and takes the guess work and inconsistencies out of the tamping process. Highly recommend.
