Built very sturdy and my grandson loved it.

He loved them a lot. And played for a good while!

This excavator is definitely well made with from what I can tell a metal cab and the rest a heavy duty plastic. The bucket/arm moves easily left or right. There is no lever operation to move the bucket – instead it requires using your hand on the arm or bucket to actually get it to dig. Both doors open but not all the way, yet enough for small fingers to push the steering wheel to activate the horn and headlights. The instructions state that pushing the steering wheel will also activate an engine starting sound. Ours only does the engine sound when the vehicle is pressed on top – just a light press will result in sound. I like that ours is not like the instructions. It arrived with batteries installed and only required pulling a small tab to begin working. Our almost three and four year olds love the excavator. My only recommendations would be an improved digging arm mechanism so that your hand is not required to be directly on the arm near the bucket to dig.

The truck has good detail and is sturdy. It was dropped on its side from 6ft high and I couldn't find any damage. The doors open and the Excavator rotates 360 degrees with the scoop having a great range of motion. The excavator makes very loud clicking sounds when rotating. To activate sounds you push the steering wheel down or you press the excavator down. The excavator was too sensitive and would activate its sounds almost any time a slight force was used. The sounds for the excavator are sirens before making a truck start noise. The Steering wheel noise is a horn with lights. Both buttons activate the headlights. This is a sturdy and detailed toy excavator. I am not fond of the inertia rolling (The truck stops rolling on its own due to an internal mechanism) I would prefer a free roll. I do not like the loud clicking and siren noise the excavator makes. I think it's great that it came with the batteries already installed, you just have to pull the tab out from the bottom of the truck to activate it. Packaging was straightforward and easy to undo. Remove a clear rubber band and some toy plastic screws (Twist with your hand) at the bottom. This toy is good for anyone who is fond of construction equipment. It is a decent size, not too big and not too small. It has rubber, metal, and plastic parts.
