Grade A or B for making vanilla extract?

There are two grades that most people are familiar with: Grade A Prime Gourmet, which is about 30% moisture, and Grade B Extract, which is about 20% moisture. Grade A should be used for cooking and can be used for making extract. Grade B should be used for making vanilla extract.

How many beans would be needed for a gallon jug?

We put 25 whole bean pods into a 1.75 liter bottle of Vodka. So knowing a liter is equal to 33.814 ounces lt would take 25 beans for 59.1745 0z or 128oz (GL) /59.1745=2.16 X 25 beans=54.07 bean pods per gl---Final Answer-LOL You slice the bean pods open lengthwise too... Good luck and enjoy!!! You must "steep" the mixture at least 2 Months in a dark place and shake it up well each week...too!!!!

How much do 25 vanilla beans weigh?

From what I remember when I purchased vanilla beans loose some time back, 15 vanilla beans came to about 0.10 pounds. 25 would be about 0.20 pounds.
