CamelBak Chute Mag Cap Accessory - Replacement Cap for Chute Mag Water Bottles, Black

I was an early adopter of the camelbak water bottles. My dad's company (Eastman Chemical) made the proprietary BPA free plastic and sold them in their company store before they were popularized on the market. One challenge for these bottles has been the straw feature getting a hole in it and subsequent leaking. They tried reengineering it but success was elusive. Enter the mag chute. This cap does not leak. I am very pleased. As a bonus, when my contingo bottle hit the ground, I tested the mag chute on it as they do not sell replacement caps. It works for it too! Oddly you can't put a contingo cap on a camelbak with good results. I cannot explain this.

This is my absolute favorite chug-top. Opens and closes quickly, very secure, and just grab the loop handle to take a drink.

Original cap was leaking. This solved that issue

The only caveat I have with these caps is, if you are replacing the cap on an older Camelbak Eddy, these need 2 hands to open. One to hold the bottle one to twist the top. Not as convenient as the bite straws are.But you can usually also find an entire bottle and cap, on sale for about the same price you pay for just this cap too. I just didn’t want to throw away yet another good bottle because the cap went bad.Other than that, they work vey well.

I bought this cap to replace the one that came with the bottle. The original cap would leak all the time. This cap is perfect. Doesn’t leak and flips completely out of the way when open.

I bought this cap after the original cap on my 2013 Camelbak chute wore out and started leaving plastic bits in my drinking water 🤢At the time I bought the bottle in 2013, it was $8.99, and I figured I had gotten a good 10 years out of it by 2023, so I started shopping for a new one—only to discover that a new camelbak chute in the same size is $16-18 (at time of writing) Fortunately, I found this replacement part for about $10, and my water bottle is back in service.The new cap is a substantial improvement over the original in basically every way. The original cap relief on a press fit between the inner lip of the cap and that of the water bottle to make a tight, leakproof seal. However, the result was that the cap had to be screwed on to a specific tightness and the seal had to be completed dry. Several times I caught the original cap, which was supposedly “leakproof” leaking on the floor of my car. In its final year, the cap lost its seal to the point that I had to clamp it down really tight and hope it didn’t end up sideways. The new cap solves this problem with a rubber gasket, and I have experienced no leaking trouble at all since. The magnetic retainer for the spout cap is also a huge plus, since the original cap’s clip on retainer never really worked for me.I can’t speak to durability yet, but for less than the price of a new bottle, my water bottle is better than it was new, and that means this cap earns its five stars.
