A great addition to my safety.
This is not a cheap looking light at all. The plastic parts and the precision with which they fit together is first class in every way. The optical clarity of the front lens is as clear and shiny as on the headlight covers of a luxury car. These things dress your bike up, not down. But mainly I love this thing because I don't consider it wise to trust your safety to only one cheap electronic device, namely a bike headlight in this case, with no backup. This is certainly no headlight replacement, because it throws no beam of that type, but it makes you very visible to cars and keeps you legal to ride slow instead of being stuck walking when your primary headlight croaks on you. I run this in a flashing mode because it seems more visible that way, plus the batteries last longer when flashing. I also love that this light, and the identical Cateye tail lights that match it, fulfill the legal requirements for reflectors. No separate front & rear reflectors are needed. I put a tiny piece of black electrical tape over the light sensor under the cover to make mine stay on even in low light or daytime, because I'm just a safety Nazi. But the single side button will still turn it all the way off, regardless of motion, so if I want it to stay off, that's not a problem. I use this and my regular headlight at the same time so if one dies, the other is already on & keeping me visible to the drunk drivers.

Like others, I have covered the light sensors with ...
Installs and works as described. Like others, I have covered the light sensors with black tape so it is motion activated only. I really wish there was an option built into the equipment for this exact purpose as I prefer to have a light on even when the sensors pick up that it is bright enough outside to not have them (without physically turning on and off the light). I read somewhere, perhaps her on amazon, there is a way to remove the light sensors from the circuit board so you don't have to use tape. I will look into that in the future. Overall a quality light.

the red back light version is awesome for the very same reason
No way to use it but to be seen, none of its different modes is usable to see the road ahead. On the other hand, the red back light version is awesome for the very same reason.

Makes you very visible from the front
Cateye TL-LD570-BW front lighted reflector makes you very easy to be seen dawn, night and dusk. Unit only lights when moving and in darkness. Setting of motion detection is is very sensitive, and "darkness" seems to mean less than full daylight. There are 5 lighting modes, with attention-getting flashing sequences available.Unit does not provide any useful lighting to allow you to see. When trail or street lighting is needed, an additional or different front light is required. (I will add a helmet light when I really need it.)A small piece of tape is provided with the unit that can be used to cover the top clear part of the reflector. For me, this was essential for night and dawn riding. Otherwise, the light coming up from the reflector killed my night vision. The add on tape is an impressive bit of engineering, by-the-way, demonstrating serious design over-kill with a logo, metallic inner layer, and perfectly die-cut shape. The tape also works perfectly to block the upward light. This attention to detail is true for the Cateye TL-LDS70-BW front lighted reflector itself.

Really great light. Flashing sequence is great and really gets attention. I had too many things on my handlebar, so I only had room on the stem, but the mount was horizontal, not vertical like the rear lights they have. I called the company, and they were so cool and shipped me the part from the rear reflector so I can use it on the handlebar stem. Love it!My favorite thing is, when the bike starts moving, it starts up (when dark). I can't speak to battery life yet since I've only had it on the bike for about a week. I also think since it looks like a basic reflector, it might be less likely to be stolen if left on the bike, but if you want to remove it, it slides right off, easy!

Not for Daylight!
If you are buying this to work during the day, DON'T. Both the light sensor and motion sensors are worthless in the day. I even put a piece of tape over the light sensor so it would work during the day. The motion sensor is not sensitive enough even when riding. I'd be going down the road and have to waive in front of it to get it to work. Buy the TL-LD560F instead if you're doing day riding.

Flawed Mounting Options
This would be a perfect product if it could be mounted on a bike's existing reflector bracket in place of the reflector. Otherwise, brake and shifter cables get in the way of almost any other mounting alternative.

Works really great. Never forget to switch on your lights
its our 3rd set we buy now. You just clip off the light sensor inside and it automatically starts blinking as soon as you start moving. Thats what I was always looking for. Works really great. Never forget to switch on your lights.
