I have a full size solid top dreadnaught, but didn't want to take it with me to deer camp, where it would be exposed to humidity and temperature changes. Fully laminated will be more durable. Also I am not concerned with scratching, dinging or even completely destroying it, since it's a "beater". But it sounds plenty decent for those purposes. I chose Yamaha because I also own a nicer 12-string solid top Yamaha FG and have owned Yamaha electric guitars and basses before. They tend to pay good attention to fretwork and overall quality, even on budget instruments. Fit and finish is nice for the money, burst looks nice and having both strap buttons installed is unusual and a nice surprise. A guitar this size you'll probably want to play it standing up more than a full size one. I've had it for about a year. Stock strings are trash, installed a budget set of Martins and it's much better. "Vintage style" tuners seem to work so far. They look flimsier than typical full size tuners, but hopefully will hold up. Overall it holds tune. Happy with it for the money.

Good fit for my 8 year old son. I enjoy playing it as well since my hands aren’t large (wear a medium or size 7 in medical gloves). Good sound, Yamaha build quality which would be much better than the cheap stuff that comes in at less than $200

It's a solid Yamaha build. It came set up, ready to tune and play.....no neck adjustment required. The finish is kind of whatever....but the tone is great for the guitar that it is. It works great in small hands, and a comfortable instrument is one you want to play. My daughter is very happy with it (9yo) and is excited to play. It would also make a great travel guitar for camping trips. The gig bag is a wonderful bonus that doesn't feel like the cheap standard china-made garbage you might otherwise get. All-in-all its a great starting point for an aspiring young player. The frets were smooth, there is no buzz, and the intonation was only a bit sharp at 12. For the money, you can't beat it.

Came quickly, out of tune but easy to fix. Sounds great and my sons love to play it.

This will be a traveller and instroduction to guitar use for grandchildren. So far seems great.
