These are the best vitamins... all of them, not just this one. They are what they say they are and I find no evidence that they are full of crap like other brands. No "wonder if that's dangerous" ingredients.They do sell them in some grocery but L-Lysine is one that is often missing. So, glad to find them here.On a side note... TMI... if you have Herpes Simplex (cold sores) taking two a day (morning/night) will prevent flare ups under "normal" life conditions. When stress or illness kicks the immune system to the ground... take 4 to 6 per day to clear up a flare up fast. For a bad flare up, take 6 to 8 a day and you'll be shocked how quickly you clear up. I can go years without a flare up with 2 a day!!But, you will experience some side effects at high doses. Headache, dizziness and general "ucky feeling". Nothing too severe but don't do 8 a day for more than a few days. Once healing begins, taper down over the next couple days back to normal. My experience only... this also prevents transmission unless visible sores present.

Some of the L-Lysine supplements on Amazon advertise as 1000mg but actually end up being 500mg. Of course, this means you are paying more than you should. The Sundown L-Lysine advertises as 500mg, and you receive 500mg. The order includes 4 bottles of 100 caplets. This may seem like a lot, but if you are using to overcome shingles or some other virus you'll need to be taking several per day. Price-wise, this is a great deal. And even if taking only one per day, 4 bottles is just over a year's supply.The label specifies no artificial flavor or sweeteners, no preservatives, no sugar, no milk, no lactose, no soy, no gluten, no wheat, no yeast, no fish, and sodium free.

I used to buy my Lysine at the grocery store but then they stopped selling 500 mg. So I was so pleased when I noticed Amazon had the strength I wanted. Very pleased with purchase.

This product picture is not accurate. I wanted a round pill and it is oblong. The pic shows a ROUND tablet. Bad advertising it sounds like to me.
