Great camera for video
This is a great camera recording video, especially when paired with a gimbal. Not as good in dark conditions as a FX three but still pretty good.

The FX2, one of the best full-frame cameras to enter the Sony ecosystem
When the Sony FX2 hit the market, it created a huge buzz—mostly driven by negative criticism from some content creators. However, I honestly believe many of those opinions are misguided. In my view, the FX2 is one of the best full-frame cameras within Sony’s Cinema Line, especially considering its more accessible price point for a wider audience. The FX2 didn’t come to compete with its siblings—it has already earned its own place. It’s designed for a different segment of the market: new creators and enthusiasts who want to step into full-frame filmmaking with excellent performance and enter the Sony ecosystem without making such a heavy investment. And if there’s one thing that truly sets the FX2 apart, it’s its outstanding value for money. In short, the FX2 isn’t the camera many people expected… but it’s exactly the one many actually needed.

Cost to Quality Ratio is not there
Let's start with the crazy price increase. I was about to buy it, but needed to know if I'd be home to give Amazon their password. It was $2495. The next morning, the price went up to $2698. Which is starting to infringe on things like the Blackmagic Pyxis 6k. The only saving grace for the FX2 for me was that I had lenses in the Sony ecosystem. Otherwise, it would've made more sense at this price point to spend an extra $500 for a better product. Second, I have the Sony ZV E10 Mkii. I ran a comparison that was lopsided. The lens that came with the Sony ZV E10 vs. a $1000 cinema lens and the FX2. After some subtle and simple post production work, the quality was negligibly better. A trained eye would see it instantly, sure. But the quality difference was forgivable for the price difference. In other words, the question became this: is the FX2 producing quality worthy of nearly $1600 dollars difference? Much more if you didn't already have that $1000 lens (which I didn't). If you try to do a lot of research on this stuff, save yourself. The types of things you find online show you such ideal conditions beyond the camera, it's hard to get a read. If you know EXACTLY what you need and want (you're not using YouTube for your research), then obviously, you know whether this is for you or not. If you want to level up your camera game, and you're using a content creator friendly camera like the ZV E10 or something similar, then the FX2 may be too much. It requires a different level of intention. You can't just point it at yourself and go. You need to plan your shots, decide if you need makeup for it--because it'll catch everything. It is a greater level of truth than a lower cost camera. But here's the thing. Once you post produce, you strip some of that 'truth' away to get a 'cinematic' look. What do you get in return? Better shadows, better mids, better subject separation. The FX2 has excellent autofocus where something like the Pyxis 6k just firmware added it. So that's something to consider. The battery life is -okay- but you'll want more than 1. I have 3 for my ZV E10 and I'd buy 2 more for this camera. It's hefty, weighs a lot and with the lens, it's robust. Buy something to secure it if you do this. At the price point, it's probably not something most people can casually replace if something happens. My recommendation: there are a bunch of services where you can RENT this type of gear with insurance and guarantees. The cost of those is insanely manageable. You could even get 2 for a bigger shoot. But buying this? It's crazy. And buying one of those $3500+ cameras? Even crazier. Unless you're independently wealthy and don't mind burning cash in case something happens, rental is the way to go. I personally regret the purchase and will be taking advantage of the return policy.

Good hybrid, missing 2026 specs!
It’s a wonderful camera, ok it has its flaws for the time and price. Ergonomics are amazing It’s really good in low lights Colors are great, ibis is really good But 60fps crop 👎 I knew the specs and will deal with it Overall it’s a little beast for an hybrid!

Missing camera battery
I received the Sony FX2 camera, but the battery was missing from the box. The camera itself looks good, but it was disappointing because I could not use it right away without the battery. Please make sure all included items are checked before shipping.
