I see where they state the maximum width (76") but I can't find how narrow this can go. Does anyone know how narrow you can make it?

There are bolts under the top two crossbars. Loosen the screws and you can adjust the width. (You can refer to step 5 and step 6 in the user manual. If you need further help, please feel free to contact us via a buyer-seller message. ^^
