What are the day/night settings for? I understand the dim and shut off temp settings but not the day and night temperature settings

It's literally in the name, so it's saying what times you want the light to operate. If say you want the lights to run for 16hrs a day? The hours it's on odds the day time and off is night. You can also set if and how fast the light ramps up to full power to mimic how the sun rises and sets

If i buy one led adapter and a three way splitter will i be able to hook up 4 lights with one adapter connected to my generation 2 controller?

No, The light fixtures requires its own LED adapter to function. I do not recommend modifying factory gavita cables to try and use 1 controller for multiple fixtures.

does this come with cord and temperature sensor?

Yes, came with power cord and temp probe....as well as a communication cable

The E Series LED adapter is designed to be used with Gavita 1700e LED fixtures. This product works in line with the power cord to the fixture. Using this device in conjunction with the LED fixture will allow you to control them with an EL series controller. These adapters use cables with RJ45 connectors to chain the control signal between adapters. Use 906715, 906716 or 906717 for communication with the EL controller. Adapters are cETLus listed as well as IP66 for commercial use. Allows controllability of EL series controllers Rated for commercial use If connection to Gavita EL1 or 2 controllers is required purchase of HGC906717 or HGC906716.
