It's not a WARN, but it's also not $1300.
I bought this winch back in August, dropped it into my LOD Mid-width bumper on my JKU, and went wheeling. Personally, I haven't had to use it to free myself, mostly because I don't particularly care for getting axle deep in mud with my doors off, but that's just me. I have used it to free multiple friends though, and at that task it performed admirably. In total, I've probably used this winch 5 times with a weight of over 2 ton (not counting resistance from circumstances) each time it has worked flawlessly. The wireless remote is super convenient, and is included in the original purchase price, not an add on.The winch is IP68 rated. The synthetic line is awesome. The speed is great - not painfully slow, and not so fast you can't control it.The winch looks good. The price is untouchable for a winch with these features and this weight rating.Like some of the other reviewers, I was unable to use the center mounts for the solenoid, they just didn't seem to fit right, so I used the included offset mounts instead. No big deal as far as I'm concerned, but if it's important to you, be aware. You'll hear a lot of crap about Smittybilt, and a lot of people saying that WARN is the only winch worth anything... I don't use my winch every day, and I'm not made of money... spending 1/3 the cost of a WARN for a winch that does the same thing just made sense to me.As a fun aside: One of my recoveries was a friend of mine whose WARN winch broke while attempting self recovery. Nobody makes a 100% perfect winch ;)*** EDIT: NOV 25 2018 - 3 years in, the winch is still on the Jeep, still chugging along. I'll probably need to replace the synthetic rope sooner rather than later, but that's to be expected. The wireless has decided it doesn't like to work anymore, but that's alright, because it interferes with my radios anyway, so we end up running on the wire. We go wheeling from April to November just about every weekend, and every time I've called on this winch, it's gotten me out, gotten trees off the trail, gotten friends out, flipped jeeps back on their wheels... I'm very happy for the money I spent on this winch, and would do it again.

Really 4.5 stars in my book
Good price and at least fair quality. Actual install was super quick. However, the instructions left me struggling for hours, searching youtube, etc. My situation is somewhat unique, but not so unique as to not make it into the instruction book. I have an ARB Safari bumper (winch fits inside) There is is no way to fit the control box (top center in the picture) It comes with a couple of mounting options but neither worked. Fortunately, the box really doesn't have mount to the winch, as long as you have some place to secure it. I'm not going to go to the effort to explain it all, but the motor and other end and be disconnected and rotated to fit your mounting needs. They thought of everyhing except the one position it needs to go in for an ARB Safari. It is built in China and I kind of regret not spending the extra money for a WARN that is designed for my precise application. At the end of the day though, the quality is adequate, the wireless controller works great, and it hasn't let me down.

Awesome Cust Service! Love the winch! Had problem with remote year 2, but 2 minute call and new one on the way!
Used the winch many times with no issues at all!Love the wireless option, but coming up on year 2 and the wireless remote would not stop spooling or unspooling when i let off the switch on the remote. Quickly hit the other direction if it starts to do this or flip the red switch on the control box if you near it, to kill power. Luckily i did only a little damage to my fairlead, as i quickly hit the other direction on the remote to spool the other direction and gave me enough time to kill power on the control box. I pulled my cable out and hooked the remote directly to the control box and everything worked perfectly as it should, so i could continue my winching.Called Smittybilt and literally 2 minutes later, they are sending me a new control box, remote, and fairlead (hook did a little damage to it, when it wouldnt stop spooling). They didnt even ask for a copy of my receipt, just asked when i bought it.Thats awesome customer service people! 5 year warranty on electrical and lifetime on mechanical, i feel good about my purchase. At least i know i'm good for another 3 years on electrical and have spare parts now, to rob, if i ever need them past my warranty.I'll continue to buy Smittybilt, as long as their customer service and warranties remains this good!Shout out to Daren in Customer Service, for being so awesome!

Works beautifully and Fits… sorta
Not the best pictures, but here’s what I think about it. I ordered it at the same time as the smittybilt Stryker bumper, and that was a good call. It has a strong build, feel durable, and it looks amazing. The wiring could not have been any easier, it was honestly surprising. Once it’s mounted on the bumper, which was just 4 gold screws from under the bumper, you just locate a route for the positive and negative wires (after you bolt 4 labeled wires to the motor) starting from the bottom of the grill or the underside, and just run them up and over to the battery. Once that was done, you just start rolling that line in (after the bumper depending on how you’re mounting it) and just make sure it’s tight. And it was done. You get a nice remote, I will say does feel too light and not durable but I’m not worried about it. It comes with a wired or wireless option, you just select your choice on the controller and then flip a switch on the winch depending on your choice, and then push “in” or “out” on the controller and the winch goes. The only issues I had with this winch that lead me to put 4 stars instead of 5 is because it’s fit on the bumper. It wasn’t bad at all, it jus presses up against the grill of my jeep. Thankfully the actual winch line doesn’t rub against it when rolling it in or out, but the actual winch does. Hasn’t caused me any issues being against the grill, you just gotta give it a little push when putting the bolts on it. Overall, good enough fit, very very very easy to install and wire, very easy to use, and definitely better line speed then the others I’ve seen. 4/5 stars fosho
