Review: A Noir masterpiece - With all of the outstanding work Ed Brubaker has produced over the years, it's hard to say what his greatest achievement has been in the comic book field, but this might just be it. Not only one of the best comic book stories I've ever read, but one of the best Noir stories ever as well, and it will stick with you long after you've put it down. Excellent. Review: Tune in to "FADE OUT" - FADE OUT is a true NOIR! Excellent graphic novel and an exciting noir read, enhanced by wonderful art work and a script that could would be great viewing if turned into a film.

Absolutely riveting.
I've dipped in and out of Brubaker & Phillips creator owned work over the years but this is possibly the best work they've ever done together.

Comic Noir from Brubaker & Phillips
The Fade Out is a crime drama in the tradition of the great Hollywood mystery thrillers. There has always been elements of film noir in Brubaker/Phillips projects, but here they go all in with much success. Nice color work by Elizabeth Breirweiser, though the story might have worked just as well in black and white.

Top of the line Noir.
Ed brubaker and sean Phillips already dish out the finest pulpy noir. This book though is the finest of their work. The art style and coloring is just so easy on the eyes. Murky captivating storyline. Crooked characters. Glamorous Hollywood business. It just the best things mashed into a perfect mix of art and storytelling. This book is not always available and prices ridiculously. A good deal and this is worth collecting. The book itself is hefty and pages feel something between gloss and pulp. Worthy addition.

Hollywood noir
This is a superb read - a tale of 1940s Hollywood, blacklisted screenwriters and Communist witch-hunts, war-haunted alcoholic screenwriters, a murdered starlet, and movie moguls and their security goons… it’s beautifully drawn and moves along at a terrific pace. Read it now!

Scary good.
Brubaker and Phillips's work on The Fade Out is some of the most griping story-telling you'll ever experience, in any media format. It's that good. You may be on the fence, you may think, noir? I don't think I like noir, I'm not sure a Hollywood period-piece in the noir genre is for me. I like comic books! I will simply ask you this, do you love a great story in a visual format? You do? Then you're in for a treat. You will hate to love and love to hate all of the main characters in this book, it's absolutely dripping with fleshed-out living, breathing, interesting characters with plausible arcs and quirks. The story is full of intrigue and the goings-on of the period is truly interesting stuff, as are the references and 'outings' of the era. I believe The Fade Out to be one of the finest examples of the Graphic Novel medium. There is excellence of execution in all facets of this book. All three of Brubaker, Phillips and Breitweiser work in symphonic harmony on this project, it's truly a work of art in all three regards, story, illustration and colouring. The mood and setting and environment are palpable, you can feel all of it. This book doesn't receive the credit it deserves, it's very strong work.
