Before lockdown I used whatever soap was cheap. Not much discretion. However, when so many toiletries became scarce, my mom (yeah, 50 y/o still needing his mommy) was able to procure in her region wher3e I could not. Besides the partially melted "surprise" chocolate bars, she included Dove soap bars. I have to say, I now know what I was missing.Now, maybe my review has less weight than someone going from a "good" soap to Dove. What I can say is why I like this compared to "just soap". It's moisturizing. As a man, I didn't care about "high maintenance" fluffy stuff. Dude, you have one life. You work hard. What little luxuries you can afford yourself, why not? Besides, no man talks about what soap you use over a beer.At this volume, it's basically $1 a bar. So, cheap soap is just....cheap! Why not inexpensive with a bonus.Now, for the manly part. There's a bit of "grit" as you lather. For me, that's a bonus. When you get dirty fixing the car or doing that remodel or however you get dirty doing the "dirty" work that "grit" adds to getting your crevices and hands that extra touch of clean.Finally, a few talk about the scent. We all have our tastes. This has a mild earthy scent. When I say mild, it's not like a strong perfume, it's just...well...mild. Besides, who's going around smelling soap? Kinda creepy - IMHO. It's Dove. It's meant to be good for those with the most sensitive skin. Having been diagnosed with skin cancer, I, personally, didn't realize how those chemicals in harsher "cheep" soaps, especially those unnecessary perfumes affect the skin.So, five stars here. All around bonus after bonus. At least give it a try. If you don't like it, gift it to that buddy or coworker who could really use a proper clean for Christmas. You know that guy. The one who could use the hint.

Pay a few extra pennies for a nice brand with no smells.

I like the sent, that's a major point for the purchase. The product is very creamy, but that's the Dove hallmark. If you like your soaps hard (full stop), then stay in that lane - especially if you've never used one of these Dove products before.I would, and will, buy again.

I was a loyal Lever 2000 customer for over 20 years. At some point between 2015 and 2020, Lever 2000 changed their formula which made it less "lathery" as they removed an ingredient which is apparently limited supply. L2k is still good, but not as satisfying when getting your washcloth ready in the shower.Found this as an alternative. Apparently the key ingredient is in this product and I made the switch. In general, the reason I used L2k was because of the quality and scent. Scent is different with this Dove product, but not very strong and certainly not offensive; its fine for a mens' soap. What is important is that the aforementioned ingredient does exist in this one and thus you can lather your washcloth.So the TL;DR is that if you don't like the new Lever 2000 formula, this is a product that will give you the same satisfaction that the old L2k formula provided.

Flakey skin is a big problem with me. Ever since I was a kid I would have flakes of skin in my eyebrows, and it has been pretty embarrassing. It's one of the last things I check the mirror for as I'm heading out the door, and it's something that at some point in the day I have some sort of conscious thought about. Add to that the fact that I live in the driest part of the USA, and that we have some of the most harsh calcium-rich water in the land pumping through our pipes, and you can imagine how bad it can get.I've used a lot of various store brands, but have never found a product that alleviated the flake problem. I saw these Dove bars at a big box store a few years ago and gave it a shot, because realistically at the time I felt that one bar or another would give the same lousy results so there was no difference in what I bought. Nope! Dove Men + Care bars actually worked. I was stunned. Same harsh water, same harsh environment, same skin (not sure how to change that one), but vastly better results. I swear by these bars and buy them in as big of quantities as can be fit into my sink cabinet. As long as they keep making them, I'll keep buying them.

I was hesitant to try out bar soap since it dried out my already dry skin when I used it in the past, but wow, couldn't be more opposite for this. I am a long-time body wash/loofa user (at least 15 years or so) and always thought the scrubbing was good for my skin to get it *extra* clean. I later found out that my loofa is actually coated in bacteria since I rarely change it, and I'm damaging my skin by scrubbing it daily.Decided to change it up and use bar soap again. It is hard to describe, but I feel so much...cleaner...now. My skin feels soft and refreshed, which has honestly made me just feel better overall. Can't recommend people to try this enough, particularly body wash users. 10/10.**Pros:**- Does NOT feel dry after use- Has a very good fresh scent- Great price (about $1/bar when I bought these)- Does its job**Cons:**- Honestly none that I can think of right now, but I don't have many other soaps to compare it to
