JINHAO Fine Nib Fountain Pen with Ink Cartridges & Converter, Perfect Weight, Optimal Flow, No Skipping

This is a fountain pen bundle that includes a 5 black ink cartridges, 5 blue ink cartridges, ink converter, a pen sleeve and a Jinhao fountain pen. I believe the model is the Jinhao 88, but i couldn't find the real model number in the product description. Note that I bought this for myself originally, then gifted it to a friend to try to get them into fountain pens so I don't have it anymore. But I did like it a lot and was not trying to get rid of it when I gave it away. Build quality: the cap, section and body are metal (brass?) with a nice looking matte black finish. Has a nice bit of weight to it and feels well balanced to me. I got the impression of quality when holding it. Design: Understated, which I really like. May not be for those that like flashy pens. There is some fluting / grooving on the barrel that makes it a little more interesting to look at and feels nice to the touch. Nib, ink flow: I got the fine nib and it was very smooth, surprisingly so. Definitely smoother than my Lamy Safari. Ink flow was slow at first but it opened up after writing for a bit and the flow was good after that. This was one of the first pens I bought and I don't think that I flushed it with water when I received it. It might have removed this issue altogether. Also, I cannot remember which ink I used. It was probably one of included black ink cartridges or Hongdian black ink. Using a different ink may give different results. Pen sleeve: I actually really appreciated the included pen sleeve. I think it is a nice size, protects the pen's surface nicely and has a flap that tucks in to a strap so no part of the pen is exposed. I am trying to find out if / where I can buy the pen sleeves directly so I can protect more of my pens. Overall, I really liked this bundle. I thought the pen was good quality even before considering the price. The pen alone would be a good deal for the $10 I paid, but the fact that it comes with 10 cartridges, a convert and protective sleeve makes the value/$ high

I'm kind of new to fountain pens but I am really liking this one. Very smooth writing and has a very nice sort of heavier weight to it. As said, I'm new to this and am having to learn to hold it less firmly than I'm used to and also use my arm rather than my wrist to guide it. I've had it for a little while and can already see my penmanship improving.

This pen is way better than I expected for the price! The ink delivery is buttery smooth, and lays down solidly with very little pressure. I haven’t had any bleed-through, either, writing mostly in my Moleskine notebook, so the ink flow is not excessive. I’ve had just a little skip here and there, but not to where I’m constantly going back and rewriting things; the skips are minimal, small and not at all an issue. If I had any complaint, it would be in the lack of variety in styles you can choose from, but even so: the pen’s simple, minimalistic style makes for a nice, unpretentious daily driver. I’d be very curious to see how a Scriveiner compares to this pen. If a family member ever gets me one as a gift, I’ll see, but for now, I’m quite happy with this pen.

I’ve recently gained an interest and appreciation for fountain pens. After a few purchases I’m most happy with this one. It’s the right length and weight for me. Feels great in the hand. Within 30 seconds of loading the cartridge the pen was ready to write. The nib and ink are very smooth. For the price you can’t go wrong with this pen.

Hi, This is a pretty good pen. I really like fountain pens and have a few. I got this one simply because I had a good feeling about it, price was right for my needs, the reviews were good and refills are available. Surprise! This pen is actually really good! I find myself loving it. Smooth writing, balanced ( without the top on- makes the pen too big anyway for my taste). Good ink. I enjoy writing with it. Ink seems to last ok. Good color. I really like this pen. Yes, there are many others; probably just fine, however, I'm reviewing 'this' pen. And I think it's pretty great. Enjoy! ~DM
