Fabulous first step beyond the 18-55mm
Although quite a venerable lens in terms of longevity, this lens has the design and features that Nikon followed with successors to the present day. Optically this lens is wonderful. It has a wide f3.5-4.5 which allows creative portraits, and useful longer zoom than the 18-55. Don't get me wrong, the 18-55 is a great lens but is soon frustrating due to its very limited zoom range. Going to 70 makes this a great general-purpose lens as well as being suitable for portraits. Nowadays the choice is quite complicated, with the 18-105 VR, the 18-140 VR and more. But this 18-70 still beats them all in terms of wide aperture so I still recommend it.

Excelente relación calidad-precio
Cuando sabes lo que buscas, este objetivo cumple sobradamente su función. Es un objetivo básico, sin estabilizador y poco luminoso, y en ningún momento te hace creer que sea otra cosa. Por este precio, es una muy buena herramienta para fotografía, sobre todo teniendo en cuenta que los precios de los objetivos a veces te hacen plantearte empeñar la cámara. Que podría poner el objetivo en una caja de zapatos, lo sé. Pero es un poco menos manejable, más lenta, y cuando una se acostumbra a trabajar en digital pues... Perdón, que me desvío: cumple su función.
