Awesome set for the price
My regular practice watercolors are Cotman pans, I use them for practice, studies and on the go painting, and the palettes are really hard to beat for portability, mixing areas , the transparency of colors which is important when you begin learning watercolors and affordability when you need new pans. I wanted something larger but no too large to be able to take a couple of larger brushes , and also needed to buy extra color half pans. I found this set, read about them and for the price of just a new metal palette similar in size (like other reviewers have posted) + $6 I decided to take a chance. And I am very happy I did. This set is truly transparent except for a couple of colors, zero chalkiness, they re wet easily and won't rub off the paper after dry. The tin itself is well made, it has a ring at the bottom. The brush is not of use for me because it is very soft and has no much body to it. This set is perfect for practice, I wouldn't use them for final works because there is no light fastness rating compared to my Cotmans for example, but if you use them in your covered sketchbook they should be fine. At first it might seem like there are many similar colors but you'll get surprised once you start mixing. Also having 34 colors the set will last you for a while, considering you can't buy half pans separately. Many of the colors actually granulate very nice which is a nice surprise. This set is way better than other cutesy brands, I was gifted a set of Koi and gave them away because they were so chalky and good only for coloring but not mixing and learn about watercolors. You can actually practice well with this set. I have attached some photos for your comparison with Cotman colors. You have every color you need if you are just beginning with this set and instead of buying more colors or more expensive paint to begin with try buying good paper to really enjoy watercolor and a good brush.

Fabulous for beginners!
I've finally started getting the hang of watercolors and wanted to get something better than what I was using from the craft store, which was a small koi set and a Niji aquarelle set. This set falls into a similar price point to what I've got, but omfg, there is a huge difference. It's not chalky and the colors are much more pigmented. It's still pretty clearly a student grade set, but a much better quality one. I adore the sturdy metal tin, which survived delivery (pretty sure the delivery person chucked it at my house from the street). Definitely reusing that when I'm done with the paint. The included waterbrush is pretty comparable to the Niji ones I have and doesn't leak. The color selection is very nice, and it's effortless to use. The approximately half pan paints are in a plastic insert, which isn't great-it holds the paints, but will definitely come loose from the tin over time, so maybe not the best for travel, but that is good for repurposing. Overall, I'm extremely pleased with them! Edit: after several months of heavy use and learning on my part, this is still an excellent set! While the paints are still quite good for student grade, they are definitely still that, with less pigment and more fillers, so you're going to have to work harder for saturated colors. Also, it might be ridiculous, but the brush has become my favorite and has stood up well to several hours of daily use for months now. You won't regret your purchase!

Great watercolor set
I love this set. It was my first one. Great colors better than expensive watercolors with big names

Paint is great but the tin is just ok
I think these are great watercolor paints with a lot of colors for an affordable price. If you like convenance colors so you do onot have to do much mixing these are great. I like a limited palette but sometimes having this many colors at your disposal is kind of a luxury. Despite this being an excellent product I have a couple of gripes that I had to fix to make this palette work for me. 1. instead of a metal inner plate like most tins have to lock in your half pans, this tin had a real cheap thin plastic insert. I can see this insert breaking or tearing in time and then all of your pans are loosely moving around in there. I ripped it out (held in with hot glue) and replaced the pans in the tin with double sided tape. If you want to do this I recommend the 3m tape with the foam in between the adhesive layers. the Bottom of the tin is not perfectly flat so standard flat tape would not work well. 2. The swatch card is listed in reverse order from the layout in the palette. You can pop out the pans and reorganize them so that it matches the card but like I said ...cheap plastic insert holding those pans so manipulating it too much can lead to it breaking. Or you can just use double stick tape and place the pans back in using the same order as the card like I did. 3. It came with one of those water pen brushes...Some people love them some people hate them...i hate them. I rather there be no brush included because I don't an extra piece of plastic to throw away. I wish I knew some of those people that love those things I have a shoebox full of those things I keep getting for free with other supplies I buy. 4. while there are 36 color and that is a real bargain to have that kind of variety at this price point. you can see from my swatch card that a lot of the blue hues and red hues are extremely similar to each other so it is not exactly as good of a variety as you may think. MeiLiang makes a similar palette with only 24 colors in it that comes in a similar tin except it has the metal insert inside that allows you to lock the pans in place. It also has room to add additional pans (although those will not lock in but you can add magnets or tape to stick them in). I think that set is a better value because you can still get a good variety of colors, a better tin, and you can add more colors without having similar repetitive colors. However, if you want the extra colors and don't want to mess with all that. I think you would be happy with this set.

Wonderful value.
I wish I'd found these sooner. Far richer than Windsor Newton Cotman. The set i received had not a word of English except paint names. But i swatched them all and learned on my own about transparency, staining, granulation. I immediately put half the colors aside. By mixing, 18 is more than enough. This leaves me more space to mix too. Utterly charmed by Turkey Blue, a mistranslation, which had me for a moment imagining China as a place with turquoise and teal wild turkeys running around. Alas, it is not so. I found a decent and low priced 100% cotton paper. If i did it all over again, i could get into watercolor painting for just $70 and have a year's worth of painting and practice. Terrific value. A+

These r nice vibrant colors. Mix well and I will reorder
I love these watercolors. The are a budget friendly set for this beginner but I like the brightness of the colors. They go on smooth. I have bought others im going to name grabbie sorry but those r horrible. These mix smooth and are not chalk like after drying a bit. I can add more water the next day and they do fine. Im buying a second set next week due to the fact all mine fell out of case and I am colorblind a bit. So I have to read what color im using at times. This set gives me a diagram of what color is in each pan. I definetly will continue to use and play and learn with them

A 180 journey!
I had bought these watercolors close to the Christmas shopping season in November 2018. Unfortunately I had to wait 45 days for this product. This was unusual. And to add to that, the product came damaged. The lid wouldn’t close and the tin was dented. This is how my experience began. Now allow me to tell you how the folks at Lithwish completely turned it around. As you can see, despite being excited to buy the product, I faced many roadblocks. I reached out to the team. They kept in constant touch to understand what was happening on the ground. I didn’t want to leave a negative review as my case seemed to be an exception. Also, I understand sometimes things do go wrong. It is how we manage them that counts. Eventually, since the problem wasn’t resolved, the team sent me a new set at no cost. I was refunded $10 from my initial purchase for the inconvenience as well. Now for the colors. Second time around, my box wasn’t dented and closed shut to carry for painting on the go. The colors are super rich, easy to rewet and very pigmented. They mix easily with each other and form great colors. The brush that comes with the set is decent. Caution: You have to unscrew in the opposite direction than usual to open and close it. Areas of improvement: 1. The colors come in a plastic tray with wells. While I understand the wide range of colors I’m getting in this set, at this price point, I have faced some issues in taking out the tray and the colors falling off. Both hands are needed for stability. 2. The color Payne’s Grey is less grey and more like a shade of indigo. Now, don’t get me wrong, I love indigo. But it seemed odd that Payne’s Grey was the last color in the line of blues before the greens began. However, after swatching, I understand their choice to do this. One can easily make greys with the other colors given. Just thought it best to share this point. Overall, these colors are awesome. I’ve painted on journal pages and watercolor paper. The colors remain rich and vibrant. No chalkiness on journal pages. When applied too heavily, they have a glossy sheen to them. They mix easily with my Cotmans and prima watercolors as well. Kudos to the customer service team. They completely changed my experience with this product.

I'm Impressed!
These are wonderfully vivid, very pigmented and smooth and the tin is very pretty. I own 3 brands of expensive professional watercolors adding up to over 140 colors and I have used them all. I know how good paints are supposed to act. I had heard wonderful things about this set and wanted paints I could keep in our camp trailer and not worry about them getting damaged, lost or stolen. I have swatched all the colors and painted a couple of play around doodle paintings just to see how they perform. They act just like you would expect watercolor paint to behave and the mixes are gorgeous. The raw sienna and the verditer blue are lacking in pigment and don't lay out very smooth but still not bad and all the other colors are wonderful. These would make a great purchase for kids, or to give to an adult just getting started. Heck for anyone to use in their journal or paintings that aren't intended to be sold. If the company were to provide pigment and light fast information they might even be acceptable for paintings that are to be sold. I will be purchasing another set for my sister since she has voiced the desire to learn to paint with watercolor. I would highly recommend these for pretty much anyone. P.S. I removed all of the colors from the plastic tray and put them in regular half pans with magnets on the bottom. They fit into half pans perfectly. FYI - For those of you planning to put the colors into half pans , the paint colors have glue on the bottoms to secure them to the plastic tray so they are a bit difficult to remove. I have recently purchased this set for my sister who mentioned she would like to try watercolor.

Okay for beginners
It’s okay for beginners for sure. Great selection of colours. Vibrant colours while painting. But with more transparent finishes and bigger pieces, once the paint dries, it doesn’t look the best. Dries a bit patchy.
