Hoppe's One Piece Steel Cleaning Rod (.30 Caliber & Up), 36"

Many antique firearms have really long barrels. This one-piece cleaning rod with it's muzzle protector is just the right size to run patches the full length of the barrel with ease. The handle contains a bearing (claimed to be a ball bearing but I'm not going to disassemble it), that moves smoothly allowing the rod to twist with the rifling of the barrel as it's pushed and pulled through the barrel. As with most items of this nature, it properly fits the cleaning accessories I have such as jags, and wire brushes. The rod is good and stiff with just a hint of flex but nothing bothersome and shouldn't be enough to hit the sides of the barrel when using it, even with one too many patches.Having a single-piece cleaning rod is a nice change from having to put together several smaller pieces to get one long rod.

Although this is an excellent item, I was disappointed with the packaging. The rod came in a tube without any internal padding to prevent the tube from being bent. As a result the rod was bent and I had to work on it to get it as straight as possible for use. If I were reordering, I would specify better packaging.

I have a few 30 caliber rifles and although I use a bore snake, I needed a long solid rod. The length is right for all 3 of my rifles. True to Hoppe’s reputation, it is a quality cleaning rod.

I purchased this on Amazon for under $12, its now $26.99. That's why the 5 stars. This is a sturdy rod that won't bend easily. Has a bore protector, one piece construction, handle rotates. I've seen them for over $37.
