Do I need to have a bioactive tank to use it, or can it just be used as a good base substrate for a naturalistic tank?

Thank you for your question! You do not have to have a Bioactive enclosure to use our substrates. Our substrates will work well in a Naturalistic enclosure as long as the substrate is changed on a regular schedule (at least every 2-3 months) and spot cleaned in the meantime. I hope this helps!
