We switched all four of our chihuahuas over to the Halo Holistic Plant-Based Recipe with Superfoods recently, and it’s been a smooth transition across the board. Two of them actually started on this formula when they were puppies, so it made sense to move the older two over as well once we saw how well it was working.One of our biggest concerns was whether our pickier eaters would accept it, but all four took to it immediately — no mixing with other foods, no hesitation at mealtime. The kibble is the perfect size for little mouths, and it has a fresh, natural smell that’s a lot more pleasant than other plant-based brands we’ve tried.Since switching, we’ve noticed steady energy levels, shiny coats, and no upset stomachs or digestive issues, which is always a win with small breeds. It’s still a little early to comment on the long-term benefits, but we’re very happy with how they’re doing so far.I also really appreciate the quality of the ingredients — real, whole foods and added superfoods without a lot of fillers or junk. Even the packaging is thoughtfully designed with a sturdy, resealable closure to keep everything fresh.So far, it’s been a great experience, and we feel good knowing we’re giving them a plant-based option that doesn’t compromise on nutrition.

After more than 4 years of ingesting this food, my small breed rescue pooch has made, AND maintained, a REMARKABLE recovery from being a 10 lb underweight malnourished, and otherwise health neglected being! I do feed him a rotation of other vegan foods as well. Variety's of the utmost importance, for many reasons, including staving off developing allergies to any single food. Not only has this food proven to me to be safe and effective, providing all & more of the canine dietary essentials, it's one of the very few dry foods that incorporates Selenium Yeast INSTEAD OF Sodium Selenite!!! Check those two out and compare, for your loved one's safety/health!! I tend to soak kibble (in water that tests clear of detrimental contents) more than not, and mix in other beneficial ingredients -- NOT simply rely on dry kibble bits day in and day out! That'd be torture on multiple levels, even for canines, who tend not to stop and chew most food, thus not generally taste it. (But aroma, that's another thing!) My fur baby's even spunkier, and with a sheeny shiney coat, moist cool nose, sparkly eyes...even more so now than when he was HALF his present age! I'd say this base nutrition has done a LOT to help GET him there AND KEEP him there!

My dog is doing great one bag into this food. High-energy, no allergies or hotspots or digestive issues. I started by mixing half with her existing food. My goal is to get to fully plant-based as long as she continues to do well.

I was reticent of putting my 50lb, energetic, muscular English Bulldog on a Vegan diet. I am vegan myself but did not want to force my lifestyle on my pet. However, after lots of research I decided to start adding Vegan food into the mix to see how she would do. She has been fully vegan now (except for treats) for several months. Her previously inflamed, smelly, and gunky tail pocket is now completely clear and I only need to swirl my finger in there to clean out excess hairs during baths. She no longer gets tear stains or nasty growth in her nose folds. She still smells like Pupperoni and Cheese as is expected for her breed (I love her stinky smell) but she is no longer overly smelly and itchy like she used to be. I am hypothesizing that she may have had a lot more food allergies than the chicken-egg allergy we already knew about.In conclusion, I recommend this food if you are willing to try a Vegan food and I of course would urge you to let your Vet know and to get yearly check-ups and bloodwork regardless.
