Our home recently got broken into and it was the most eye opening dose of reality that we've ever received. Luckily, we had a camera inside our home and we used it to scare the intruder away minutes after he entered. He left with only a minimal amount of our stuff. Since the incident I have had my eyes opened to just how vulnerable we all are to this type of intrusion. I had recently stayed at a hotel where this Lock Reinforcer was installed in the rooms. I thought it was a great idea. Small, sturdy, functional with a classic look. Well, after our door and door frame were replaced this was the first thing I bought to reinforce my doors. The product installs easily in minutes and the added security has brought peace of mind to my fiancee and I. I am even planning on buying another to add around the house. What I realized was that no one is going to protect your items and family 24/7. We have to take these matters into our own hands. $20 to feel this extra level of security makes a world of difference and I would implore anyone reading this to take the extra step and get this product. I feel much better now when I am not home that my little family will have enough time to react and respond appropriately with this added security. It may not fix everything, but it was the first step in getting back what we lost that day on 1/7/2020. I appreciate Berlin Modisch for making this and you have a customer for life. Don't wait until its too late. Don't wait until it happens to you. The police are first responders. They respond once a crime has already been committed, they are not available to prevent crimes. Your possessions and family are worth it. Coming from an ex law enforcement officer I am wanting to do even more now to stop from ever being a burglary victim again. I had to buy these to keep my Houdini dog INSIDE as opposed to keeping intruders OUTSIDE. They are excellent privacy latches with a subtle, sturdy, quality appearance. They blended in nicely with my oil rubbed bronze door knobs and hinges.

These weren't exactly my first choice, we've had these in some of our hotel rooms and although they work, having hardware that reminds me of being in a hotel isn't what I want in my house. My purpose for installing these door stops wasn't for more security from crooks, but to help keep our little ones inside. Our daughter learned how to lock and unlock doors and we sometimes would catch her randomly opening the front door, so this is more of a added measure to keep her inside. Pro's: - Super easy to install - Two sets of screws to fit your length requirements - Flush mount with small base makes easy to install on uneven or layered trim. - Very easy fold away design - Feels like it definitely hardens entry into your door. Con's: - Feels and looks like commercial hardware ( hotel ) - No colors offered, just metal. If they simply offered a white or black powdercoated color I believe this product would be much more attractive to home owners. It's perfect for someone not wanting a multi part door stopper like a chain or slip lug requiring you to drill into your door as well to install the locking half.

Very easy to use, seems sturdy, and cannot lock yourself out. I have a few suggestions to purchasers: (1) If you have a door trim molding around the door, you can either chisel away the modeling or place a small piece of wood behind one edge so that it will lay flat and not dig into the door if in the latched position when the door is opened. I chose to measure, cut and affix a small piece of wood. (2) It would be helpful to have small, flat bumpers affixed to the latch so that if the door is opened when latched, it will not nick the door. I had small, flat cabinet door pads that I used. (3) Because of the design of this product, you cannot use an electric/cordless screwdriver to drive in the screws, as the latch prevents the screwdriver from getting passed part of the latch. You will need a Philips screwdriver attachment that is somewhat longer. Otherwise you will need a ratchet screwdriver. A regular screwdriver will take a lot more work.

I bought this to keep our toddler in!! Somehow our toddler figured out how to unlock the deadbolt on the front door and run outside. I woke up to every noise in the night, thinking I had to go save my kid. It was terrible. In doing research, I found this and it worksheet PERFECTLY! We installed it about 5’6” off the ground, so we will be the only ones who can reach it for a while. Sometimes we forget it’s locked and try to open the door, but this thing holds tight! I’m sure if somebody was very motivated, they could ram through the door and just tear this whole item out of the wall, but it seems sturdy enough that it wouldn’t be damaged and we could just re-screw it in. Plus, the black color matches our door hardware and we have a dark door, so you can barely see it!

Quick and easy to install. Solid build hopefully I never have to test it.

I’ve had a design like this before but this one is much sturdier and solidly built. Also fantastic that white was an option, unobtrusive visually yet a serious extra layer of security when at home. Delivery to Australia faster than expected. Installs onto door frame not the door itself so perfect for units where fire doors can’t be modified.
