Almost the perfect unit
This portable AC unit came so close to being a perfect 5-star product, and Iโm genuinely sad I canโt in good conscience give it that last star. Everything about the performance is fantastic: it looks sleek, it cools my new apartment far better than my old unit ever did, and the WiFi connectivity is a great bonus; being able to adjust settings from my phone is incredibly convenient. Best of all, itโs whisper-quiet. My box fan is louder than this AC, which is impressive. So why only 4 stars? The hose connections. The included window inserts technically work, but the design is frustrating. The hose adapters are the same size, so you canโt connect them directly... you have to use a third extender piece that pushes the hoses farther apart. Thatโs fine if you have a large window, but I have a smaller one, and I needed the opposite: the hoses closer together. Unfortunately, thereโs no way to nest or adjust them, so I ended up stuffing materials around the inserts to hold them in place and block air leaks. It works, but it looks janky and feels like a big oversight for such a pricey unit. Overall, the cooling power, quiet operation, and smart features make this a fantastic AC โ but the poorly thought-out hose connection system drags down what could have been a flawless product.

Disappointing
For starters, the unit arrive two days late, even though I could see the delivery truck it was on was within a few miles of my house. Apparently, the delivery driver didn't want to unload this heavy thing that day. I bought this to replace a 5 year old Whynter heat pump that cooled and heated the third floor of our old Victorian house. This SereneLife unit was lighter, had an inverter compressor, and an app to control it, so I thought this would be an upgrade. As others have noted the window mounting kit is cheap garbage. I already knew that and plan on making my own window mount out of painted plywood like I did for the old unit. The app is nearly useless. I have an app for a Midea window unit, and that app gives me so much more information. This SereneLife app doesn't give any feedback. It doesn't even tell you if the compressor is on. For comparison, the Midea unit gives me the real space temperature and watts being used, so I know if its working or not. No such feedback here. My biggest problem with this unit is the lack of an internal condensate pump like the Whynter unit. I am an engineer, and can't understand who would design a unit like this where you can't easily drain the condensate. The lower plug is so low that as others noted, its below the level of the thick carpet the unit sits on. I installed the unit last night, put it in heat mode, and this morning the display is telling me its full of water and needs to be drained before it can operate again. That was less than 10 hours of operation in the heating mode. For comparison, the Whynter unit had a third drain port that was connected to an internal condensate pump and you could easily run the small drain house out through the exhaust hose. I guess I am stuck buying a $50+ external condensate pump so I can actually use this unit. Very disappointing and short sighted by the design engineers. UPDATE October 31, 2025 This thing is even worse that I thought. I spend the $50 and install an external condensate pump. The hose that was included with the heat pump connects to the higher of the two drains, so I connected it from that drain to the condensate pump. It's been 50 deg F outside and this unit shut down after a day of operation because the internal water tank was full. How does this happen? What is the purpose of the upper drain and why do they provide a hose that clearly doesn't even do anything? There is no way to actually drain the lower drain without spilling a bunch of water on the floor because it's so low to the ground that you can't get any shallow pan underneath it. This is beyond stupid. Avoid this unit and avoid this manufacturer for designing and building such as useless product.

BEWARE! NOT 14,000 BTU UNIT AS ADVERTISED - is 10,300!
I specifically purchased this unit last October for the upcoming cooling season. STRIKE #1 After recently unboxing for the cooling season this year, I realized the manual lists the unit as 10,300 BTU DOE rating and 12,300 ASHRAE rating. So where is the 14,000 BTU as advertised? In checking the Amazon ad, if you click on specs in the drop down menu way down on the ad, thatโs where it says 10,300 and the model number that matches what was sent. FALSE ADVERTISING at its best! STRIKE #2 The window install kit is absolutely HORRENDOUS and doesnโt allow both hoses to fit one standard 32 inch wide window without modifying the panels. While I didnโt figure how to cut them yet, they wouldnโt even stay aligned in the window correctly or stay out when closing the window, and I had to tape them temporarily and fit one hose in one window and one in the other until I can figure how to fit them both in one window. (Bad design - they should have included two small adjuster panels.) STRIKE #3 Setting up WiFi was clunky at best. After experimenting with button controls, I finally figured it out. Wish it had a reading for room temperature in the app. Aside from these serious negatives, the unit seems to be working well in the cool mode. Luckily my room can handle the smaller BTU rating. In low mode it is relatively quiet, but tv volume still needs to be increased to accommodate the noise. Donโt have a way to measure the decibel rating, hope that isnโt falsely advertised. I like the castors on it that allow you to wheel it around and the air filter is easy to access for cleaning. The remote does work, although I havenโt used all the buttons on it and is a nice alternative if the app doesnโt work. Havenโt tried the heat or dehumidifier settings, as I mainly wanted a unit to cool with the extra options for winter use. Make sure your room can handle the lower BTU rating!

Super nice!
Very easy to setup right out of the box. Keeps my shop nice and cool. So quiet I usually have to double check to make sure itโs on!

SereneLife 14000 BTU Portable Inverter Air Conditioner, 115V )
This ac unit does cool my rather small room when its running non stop on the highest setting but anything less than that and it doesn't cool as much as I'd hoped for 14000btu. For reference its about 80-90 outside (wa state so this *is* hot lol) and keeps my maybe 600sqft room at about 70. Its much quieter than my old window unit and I do like that it doesn't block as much of the window and my natural light however that means it takes up a *lot* of floor space and it has to be right by the window so I'm limited on how I can arrange my room. I probably would've been better off keeping to a window unit style as this isn't better in my opinion, but it gets the job done. It has a CEER rating of 12

Almost perfect
The onkly issue, and it's minor, the adjustable window frame attachment almost certtainly needs to be cut, you would have to have a huge window not to have to cut this. They mention this in manual. They don't mention how to cut this. It is both flexible and yet brittle at the same time, don't try to use a hacksaw to cut it. I tried that and immediately cracked it. Stopped that and used a vibro saw which made quick work of it. The unit itself is great, quiet, powerful and loaded with features, joined wifi quickly, easily controlled by my phone as well as the remote. Cooled and dried a 500' space quickly on a very very hot and humid day.

Poor Refund Policy
I received my 14,000 BTU + heat unit from RSA Global in a state where it was not functional. I was using it primarily for cooling, but the cooling was not working at all. Additionally, the fan was extremely weak and I felt nearly no difference between the lowest and highest settings. And lastly the metal fins that were visible when I removed back plastic panel had multiple bent/damaged fins all over it. So, I requested a refund, and that is where the trouble started. They provided me a non-paid shipping label. I tried calling RSA from a number on their invoice or wherever I found it, and I got what sounded like a personal answering machine (I later found out this business is being run out of a residential address). At that point I got Amazon support involved since I believed I shouldn't have to pay for shipping on a defective item in order to get a refund. In a 3-way chat, Amazon support asked RSA to provide me with a pre-paid shipping label, and RSA replied saying to submit a refund request. I did that and then they sent me another non-paid shipping label. I messaged them this detail in that same chat with pictures and didn't hear anything for at least a few days maybe a week. So I went through Amazon's A-z Guarantee for my return. Only after I provided RSA (in that same chat) with proof of my return and a cost breakdown and a tracking number as was required by Amazon, did RSA finally decide to respond (less than 12 hours later by the way) with more than a short response. Only after they realized I had gone through all this BS to go over their head did they give me a long response asking me what was going on with the unit. I didn't respond, this was no longer their case to handle and I had done everything Amazon had asked. Shipping this cost me around almost $200, and RSA Global wanted me to pay for it to ship back their broken garbage in order for me to get my refund for a defective product. I think Amazon was great, but I probably won't ever buy anything from RSA global, and if I could give them negative stars, I would.
