Raindrip R675CT Analog 3-Dial Water Timer

Q: I just ordered this and I noticed if the batteries die, instead of shutting the water off, it allows the water to run. Am I missing something?

Low batteries won't leave the water running. The timer needs power to open the valve but the valve will close itself otherwise. However, my timer had a damaged rubber diaphragm and that caused a 1 gallon/minute leak. Leaked silently for more than a week.t. That will add $100-200 to this months water bill.

Q: Does this unit have a waterproof cover?

There is a plastic cover for sale here: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09D33RS9H It is not waterproof but will protect the dials from dirt, rain, and UV rays.

It needs to have water pressure to open and close the valve, so I doubt it will work with just gravity from the rain barrel.

Q: How does it know when it has rained and how much it rained in order to "delay"? How long does it "delay"?

It does not have a rain sensor. You have to turn a dial setting the rain delay for 24 -72 hours etc.
