Could I put one in whilst not on my period to practice the insertion or would this be uncomfortable and more difficult to remove?

You could put one in whilst not on your period. I would probably suggest lubing it up a bit first. I found an easy way to insert was to hold it between your thumb and two fingers and scrunch it so it’s smaller, then insert, push it up and have it puff back up while it’s inside you. Push it up as much as your finger will go. Easy enough to remove, sometimes I found squatting made it easier for my fingers to find it and gradually pull out gently. Doesn’t hurt to insert, don’t hurt to pull out. Make sure you only ever use it once - don’t wash and use again or anything like that.
