Gemini said I finally upgraded from a cheap electric blade grinder to the Chestnut C2S, and honestly, the difference in my morning coffee is night and day. The first thing you notice is the build quality. It feels really solid in your hand—the full metal body has a nice weight to it, and the textured grip makes it easy to hold onto while you’re grinding. It doesn't feel like a "budget" tool at all. As for the actual grinding, it’s surprisingly fast. I can get through about 20g of beans for a pour-over in roughly 40-45 seconds without much effort. The grind consistency is where this really shines; I'm getting much cleaner flavors now because the grounds are actually uniform. One thing to keep in mind: the 25g capacity is perfect for a single large cup of coffee. If you’re usually brewing for two people or making a big French press, you’ll definitely have to grind in two batches. Also, like most manual grinders, there's a bit of static, but a quick tap on the counter usually clears it up. If you’re looking to get into manual grinding without spending $200+, this is easily the best value for the money. Highly recommend.

It is really satisfying when the grinding turns to buttery smooth rotating and you know the batch is done! Feels like how they used to make tools, with real craftsmanship and precision.

The grinder works really well. Because of the long handle, it doesn't take long to grind a full chamber of beans. And the coffee tastes wonderful using this grinder. I use an Aeropress XL brewer, and the chamber of this grinder holds exactly two level Aeropress measuring spoons of beans (2.5 TBS each), so it holds about 5 tablespoons of coffee beans in total. The only issue I have is that the text on the metal where you adjust the grinding size, that tells you which direction is course and which direction is fine, is on the wrong part of the grinder. It's on the main body of the grinder. However, the entire grinder piece inside the main body rotates in relation to the main body, so as you are turning the adjustment knob to adjust the grind size, the adjustment knob never correlates to the "fine" and "course" words printed on the body of the grinder (see video). This means that you are determining the perfect grind size by trial and error. Once you get it the way you want it, you don't have to mess with it, unless of course you change how you are brewing for that day like changing to espresso or French press). I am considering using a paint pen to mark my favorite grind size for my Aeropress, but I am worried the smell of the paint will mess up the smell and taste of my coffee. Overall, I highly recommend the grinder, but if I ever have to get another one, I will consider possibly getting the higher end grinder of this brand that has the grind size printed on the grinder, in hopes that solves this issue.
