Each placemat is actually quite heavy but once you put it down, that's not an issue. Just a heads-up cos I was surprised but no biggie, only FYI. Otherwise, sturdy, flexible and yes, easy to wipe or wash off any easy spillage. Have not had to try and get rid of any tough stain so can't comment on whether that's hard to do.
