The awning itself is good, everything came new and in the kit. But the base bar to which the brackets are attached is very flimsy, when opened it bends so much that it is scary for the whole structure. I would not call it "free standing". If it is attached to a long luggage rack along the entire roof and the brackets are near the very edges, this will not be noticeable, but for kayak racks like Yakima they will have to be attached further from the edges, and the bar will bend. In addition, the awning is attached to the structure with Velcro, and the opposite part of this Velcro is glued to the metal with some unreliable glue, on the very first day on the beach the awning together with the Velcro was torn off by the wind, the glue on the Velcro is still sticky. It will be necessary to attach it with something more reliable. Well, and fasteks for attaching the straps, they seem to be metal and work well, but after the first trip to the ocean they were covered with rust, I do not know how long they will work like this. Update. It turns that it can be easily improved, of course if you have welding in your garage. Now it's much better. Hey, guys from Sanhima, for 6 pack of nice German beer I can sell you the patent on this improvement :)
