Product description Cannas are among the most colorful summer bulbs - as flamboyant as their tropical American ancestry - with ruffled spikes tapering to refined buds boasting immense, paddle shaped leaves. Their great reedy canes and palmy foliage make for large magnificent plants even if they never bloom. Canna Musifolia is not really known for its blooms, but more so for its giant tropical textured banana sized leaves. The blooms however are a reddish coral in color. its exotic foliage creates a stunning background with dramatic deciduous seasonal height. The ribs and edges of the leaves are trimmed in bronze.

Arrived battered NEW Update
The box in which these were packed were battered during transit. I had my doubts as to whether the three pieces of rhizome would grow as there were no 'eyes' just a few short strands on two pieces that could have been the beginning of a root. Read up that rhizomes that were kept dormant often died; these looked as dead as a dodo. Always the optimist, I planted a piece each in three small plant pots, nothing happened. I then got an old glass jug (see through) placed wet kitchen towel on the bottom, then the rhizomes and then topped with more wet kitchen towel. Stuck them on a sunny windowsill and left them. When the kitchen towel looked dried out I inspected them, nothing, undeterred I recovered them and kept them damp. Last week when I had another peek, two pieces had sprouted so I then potted them up. One is growing quite well and has made good roots, needs a bigger pot as it is not yet time to plant out in the garden. The second one then showed signs of life, and today, hip hip hooray, the third piece too seems to be alive. The biggest is now out in a cold frame as the weather has turned hot, the others are still indoors. With a bit more TLC I reckon these flourish. Patience having paid off. I could have binned them. Thank goodness I did not.UPDATE Here we are in the middle of August 2019. Thought you would like to know the outcome. One Rhyzome never made it after all - the other two, well, I am now the proud owner to two very large plants and yes, they have flowered! Three beautiful red flowers to be exact. Since I wished to move these around in my garden I planted the two successful rhyzomes in a 50-60 Litre (large) black pot with good drainage holes, this I placed on a heavy duty 'trolley' so I can wheel it about. Every week, another stem seems to sprout. Even with the loss of one, I am still delighted. Come winter I shall let the leaves die down/cut them off and cover the whole pot to keep it warm and move it into a frost free spot as I am unable to faff about lifting and replanting next year. Having seen my neighbour's banana tree, I am glad I plumped for these as they do grow tallish in a short time.. You do have to keep the soil moist though

Took a while to arrive but growing well now
I was worried by some of the poor reviews but decided to give it a go based on the price. I received 3 large rhizomes, approx 3 inches long. They took a few weeks to show any signs of life but are growing really fast now. They are taller than my banana plants of the same age. Really impressed and keen to see if they give me any flowers this year, although not worried if they don't as the foliage is really impressive.

Save your money
I have just received the so called 3 canna bulbs - they are so small around thumb size and certainly one of them will not grow - this is shipped from China - considering the cost save your money and get from a supplier in the UK.

Terrible quality
On arrival (from China) only one of the bulbs, out of three, looked healthy. One was no more than a straggly mess of roots. At 04/05/2019 I have only one pot, out of three, showing growth; leaves have been in evidence for a few weeks. I'm reluctant to dig into the other two pots at this stage in case I disrupt growth (if any, which I doubt). It looks like this has been an expensive purchase, at nearly £15 for one viable bulb. NOT recommended.

waiting to see growth
These arrived from China, well packaged and are now planted and I'm waiting to see growth. Also sent with the Canna bulbs were some seeds that I had not ordered, so I don't know what they are. I shall not be planting them as they may be an invasive species!!!!

They come from China
They are now planted so it is a waiting game. Tubers looked ok so am reasonably hopeful they will sprout forth. Mentioned on Gardeners World - they don’t flower apparently but have spectacular leaves and grows tall - which is what i wanted.
