This mailbox is BIG. Looks exactly like the picture and the quality is what you would expect from Whitehall. The custom plaques arrived in less than 2 weeks and we're relatively easy to install (although you need a drill bit for metal, std drill bit did not work for me). Overall, good purchase.

The mailbox and post are both sturdy and look aesthetically pleasing. The unit replaced our hard plastic mailbox which did not hold up well over time. The most difficult part of the installation is the 4” x 4” wooden post that you need to erect before slipping the mailbox/post over the wooden post. The standard mailbox is actually much larger than your typical mailbox, so, for most people, there is no need to upgrade the size (a standard magazine can lay flat in the mailbox). There is a minimal amount of drilling required. I do suggest that: 1) the product description included the height of the post; and 2) the company would allow us to order the custom plaques online. I had to call customer service for an issue (my issue—not the manufacturer’s), and they picked up right away and responded to a special request I made. The custom address plaques arrived quickly and look great. The surface of the post died scratch easily, so be careful when handling and installing. We purchased the optional base for the post, which I recommend. It protects the underlying wood post from the elements and looks great.

This is my second purchase of a mailbox from this company for our current and prior home. It’s sooo much nicer than what you find at the local big-box stores! If you already have a 4x4 post set in the ground, as I did from my old box, this is literally a 10 minute install. If not, then it’s a little more work but totally worth it. Well built, nice magnetic close, and the custom address plates that they make are classy without being overly flashy.

Beautiful. The side plates are nice but I can't begin to know how to install, so I am going to try magnets. Be sure to consider the pole when placing it. We had to move our exciting pole back because it made the mailbox go over the curb.

I installed the mailbox myself and saved the $400 which was a fee for installation. I think most people can install this themselves. It’s a bit physical. I dug a 3 foot hole approximately 8 inches around put my 4 x 4 into that hole and poured concrete almost to the top of ground Level of the 4 x 4 and let it set overnight. The assembly of the mailbox itself is rather my minor. You can see from the video the un result. It’s nice and sturdy. There is quite a bit of federal regulations regarding the height, distant from curb, etc. I went to my local post office and asked for advice. They said I receive curb side service and I should get the box as close to the curb without going over the curb as possible. This makes it very easy for the mailman to deliver. I recommend you check your local post office for the measurements.

Good mail box. Save yourself some hassle and don't use the 4 tiny 10/24 screws that mount the box to the post. Use some bigger bolts and thru-bolt it to the post. Mine fell off the post today. Those 4 screws are not adequate to hold it.

Great looking, but to much money for all you have to do for it. . It faded quick so you have to maintain it. Car wax doesn't work well. Finally I bought bees wax and it's holding up from the sun and rain4 months fingers crossed.

Excellent mailbox with post and easy to install over an existing 4x4 post. I had watched a video on how to install it and the only thing I missed is this unit did not have the post cuff cover at the bottom. That would have been helpful in my situation with exposed wood post at the bottom; of course, you have to put that on during installation or do a re-installation.
