Is it required to waterproof Schluter-DITRA and Schluter-DITRA-XL?

Waterproofing isn't required but prevents damage to moisture-sensitive materials. DITRA and DITRA-XL are easy to waterproof by sealing seams and connections with KERDI-BAND and thin-set mortar.

Can I use self-leveling compounds over Schluter-DITRA or Schluter-DITRA-XL?

DITRA and DITRA-XL were designed and tested for thin-bed ceramic tile and natural stone applications. Any leveling of the subfloor must be done prior to the installation of the membrane.
