I purchased this hat because I love my daughters OR hat...and I have a big head so it's hard to find a women's hat that fits. I'm a bit disappointed that the inside circumference of the hat is about 1 inch too big, compared to my daughters hat, and causes the brim to warp (when I tighten the internal adjustment) in a way that isn't super appealing. Since we both have the same size, I have to assume the pattern on THIS color was just a bit bigger. But I haven't returned the hat because of ALL the terrific features this hat has.1. The hat is light and very comfortable to wear2. It provides excellent shade3. The elastic cord inside the hat band, that allows for custom adjustment, is thin and sturdy4. The adjustment tab in back small, but easy to use while wearing the hat5. The color is amazing, and there's a lovely design on the underside of the brim...no one sees it but me--it's a nice touch!6. The neck strap, in combination with the brim adjustment, males it so I can wear my hat even on a windy beachI love this hat, and next year I'm going to buy another color!

This is my favorite hat I've ever had. I usually get a cheaper hat every season and wear them out. I have lupus and flare if I don't have adequate sun protection but I like to be outdoors, so I've experimented with different kinds of hats and found a few factors that were important to me.1. Durable material. Most important because I toss my hat all over the car, sometimes under other gear. This hat can be crushed and pop back no problem, the rim is of a nicer foam than I expected! The material and stitching on this hat are just beautiful. They are rugged but elegant enough. The directions say you can wash in the machine on cold, air dry only. I would rather wash by hand anyway though.2. Lightweight and comfortable. The material on this hat is sturdy, but the design makes this a very light hat. It feels effortless on my head. Better than thickly woven floppy straw hats. The Large is 23.5" (found info in their own website) and it fits my 23" head like it was made for me. I have thick hair too. You can adjust the tightness a little bit with a small string on the back of the cap, but they are true to size I think, at least!3. Looks non-dorky. My expectations here aren't too picky, but just to put it in perspective, I've had this hat on my wish list for a year before I got it - I love how it looks and it exceeded my wishes. The material is beautiful and feels so pleasant. The print on the bottom of the brim adds a bit of uniqueness. But if you take a close look at the cap, it's a very simple, beautiful pattern. And the brim is slightly oval, not circular, which I think looks nice in person versus all my previous hats which were round.4. Of course, Sun Protection. This hat has 50UPF, right? Either way, it covers enough!The cord is a nice addition, I don't mind it after I saw how nicely it was attached and unobtrusive it is, plus useful to hang your hat off things if necessary.I would love one of these in every color, but the lightest, Sand, is the one I chose and I think it's lovely. Get this hat, or the one with the vent and rain cover! ;)UPDATE: I wrote this review 4 years ago when I only had the hat for a short period of time. It's 2019 now, and I think it's time to make a note about how it's held up through the years.This is still the finest sun hat I've ever had! I wear it on every sunny day when I go outside, and it still looks brand new. I have only washed it once, in the laundry machine + air dry, and it held up perfectly. It repels a lot of moisture, it keeps me relatively dry in the rain although it is not advertised for such a use, and my dogs have accidentally trampled it with muddy feet and have left no marks, it stays pretty clean for a light colored hat.I LOVE THIS HAT!!! I recommend it to anyone who needs a fantastic piece of sun protection.

I go on long hiking trips out in the intense sun so I was looking for a better sun hat. The hat is quite expensive for me but it was worth the money. I looked at the size chart to make sure find out which size would fit me and decided on the small. The hat fits my head just right and there's even an adjuster if you want it tighter on the head.It's the cutest sun hat I've worn. The brim is wide enough to keep my face and neck cool and protected. I love the material as well and the hat overall feels very sturdy and durable; perfect for my hiking trips.

I ordered this hat for my upcoming Christmas cruise in the Caribbean. Having recently had basal cell cancer on my face I wanted full protection from the sun. This hat worked perfectly. I read to have a light colored hat with a dark lining inside and under the brim to minimize reflection from sunlight. It worked perfectly. I don’t sun bathe but I do walk around in the sun. It was hot in Mexico and Belize but my face was totally protected. I don’t typically use the ties but when the wind almost blew my hat off I quickly put the ties to good use. The hat is nice and light so your head does not feel hot and sweaty. I highly recommend this hat and a good sunscreen if you want full protection from the sun.
