Nice little skillet
Great for making English muffin egg sandwiches. Typical Lodge high quality product.

Great Little Skillet
I wanted a skillet that would be the right size and shape for 1 egg and room for some extras like ham, cheese or whatever. It is the perfect size to fit a bun for sandwiches. There is still plenty of room for 2 eggs if desired. I have tried many kinds of supposedly non stick skillets. They work fine at first but they all failed after a few uses. I always go back to cast iron. From past experiences I found that cast iron works ok at first and with the right care they get better with use. We have one my wife had before we were married 54 years ago and it works very well yet. I thought at first that 16 dollars was a kind of steep price but it will serve me the rest of my days and then many years after I depart. This one did not stick with the first use. I am very pleased with this purchase. I use this one and my 6 and 1/2 skillet on my Pizzazz Pizza oven. It heats from the top and bottom so no flipping midway required and things do not burn. Anything I cook in this skillet on the stove top or oven I can do on the Pizzazz.

Nice, but too small for my needs
This is a very well made item! However, the 5" diameter refers to the top and you lose some of that as the walls curve in towards the bottom. The actual diameter of the bottom of the pan is about 4". That ended up being too small for me, so I ordered the 6.5" version instead. I think this 5" pan would work really well for people making eggs for an egg sandwich but not a whole lot else.

Portable cast iron.
The 5 inch pan works great on a Jetboil with pan attachment.

Smaller than you think
This is smaller than I thought it would be. Just under 5" from widest part of the pan. However, this is really a great item if you are preparing individual sides or treats. It's fairly shallow, so not a lot of food will fit, but it's a great idea for individual serving. The cast iron seems quite durable, so this piece will last a long time.

A forever pan
In all honesty, I returned the pan because it was smaller than I had wanted. Because it rated 5 stars in my book, I went ahead and ordered the larger pan, the 9" I believe it is. Even though one returned, both are stellar cookware! They will last forever. I'm still learning about the preseasoned character, and will have to figure out whether or not I like it verses the "old style" which I have used for 25 or so years. The old style is smooth to the touch where the preseasoned is a little bumpy and I don't know if it will lend itself to cooking (for instance) a fried egg without breaking the yolk. So far, the egg sticks (where it doesn't in the old style). Apparently, even though washing the (new) pan clean, there must be some kind of buildup of oil or ?? to create a smooth surface for items you don't want to stick to the pan. Anyway, time will tell!!

They are O.K./Recommended with reservations
I'm spoiled by the Lodge cast iron skillets, 5 inches to 12 inches, we obtained 51 years ago after we were married. Then they had smooth surfaces, were easy to season, easy to care for without losing any of the ourselves-seasoned bottoms (unless overdrying them on the stove top). We just washed them with hot water and a scrubbing brush, scraping the bottoms with a spatula when needed. The bottoms were always smooth and cooked beautifully, on the stove top or in the oven -- cooking just about any dish we prepared. I lost three when moving and replaced them with the new Lodge pans. These pre seasoned or heat enhanced seasoned pans have quite rough bottoms and are, therefore, hard to use for any moderately delicate or delicate dishes I prepare, especially egg dishes -- but more. I wish I could purchase the pans they made 50 years ago, pans worth their legendary status. I'm not happy with having to sand and sand and sand the bottoms of these new style pans. But I'm old and, HAPPILY, behind the times in many ways, although up to the present time when necessary.

Makes a perfectly cooked round egg for bagel or English muffin sandwich
This is absolutely the most perfect way to cook one round scrambled egg. I still use a little spray oil since it’s new, but I probably don’t need to. The skillet is smooth and comes heat seasoned. The egg cooks quickly and perfectly. Once done it slides right out. Anything left in the skillet wipes right off. Then just wipes out with warm water. Dry thoroughly. So easy and almost effortless to clean. I am relieved to not have to scrub my stainless steel skillet anymore! Cast iron is also non-stick without the health concerns that other nonstick skillets can cause.

Tolle kleine Pfanne

Ranger.

Great little frying pan.
There are times when I have three hobs with things on them, ( eg griddle pan, saucepan, chip pan), & I want a fried egg to accompany the other ingredients I'm cooking......but so little space to fit in another frying pan. This is the perfect solution: a mini pan just big enough for an egg. It heats up quickly & evenly, it becomes more non-stick the more it's used, easy to wash in hot water with no detergent, & simple to keep it in pristine condition by just drying it & applying a thin layer of oil. And it is also such a beautiful little thing, the design so lovely. It seems to be quite expensive, but then you pay for quality.
