The quality and ease of playing with.
I am a beginner senior student at 73 and have been at it for nine months. I had the money for and purchased a five-star professional outfit. My violin was a handmade copy of a Stefan Petrov, and my strings are what I consider the best that money could buy, but my expensive Brazilian wood bow was holding me back. It felt too heavy, and cumbersom so I switched to a good carbon fiber bow, which helped a lot. However, it still wasn't meeting my expecitations and moving over the strings like I hoped. Okay, I'm not a patient person and want to sound at least like an advance beginner someday. I was getting frustrated. On line I found the Virgo's wood-covered carbon fiber bow. The reviews were mostly good, so I purchased it for what I considered a low price. I LOVE IT! It's light weight makes it nimble and my bow speed has increase substantially and most of all my confidence. The Gewa Bow gripm also helped. I would recommend it to any new students as well as older students who arn't patient like myself. It gave me the confidence I was looking for, and now my hours of practicing are paying off. Five Stars.

Pretty and amazing for the price
I bought this bow to replace a brazilwood bow that was essentially falling apart (student outfit bows aren't worth it, kids). It's a very pretty bow. There's inlays around the screw as well, which I didn't see while looking at the pictures, so that was a nice surprise. The stick is round, not octagonal. Overall the aesthetics are great, maybe a little flashy for orchestral or chamber music. In terms of actual use, I love this bow. It's balanced nicely. It's weight is significant enough that you know it's there, but it's not heavy enough to be a hindrance. Staccato and ricochet are a breeze with this. My poor pinky can rest now instead of straining like before. The only gripe I have is that when I opened it up the plastic over the metal portion above the grip was extremely difficult to remove, and seemed to be put on so that the grip was glued over it. It was a pain to remove, and almost knocked the grip out of place. However, I'm not going to drop a star for this because I think it had more to do with the packaging than the product, and I can be unintentionally violent with packaging.Overall, this is an insanely good bow for the price. It's well-crafted, pleasing to the eye, and affordable. If you're looking for an upgrade from a student grade bow, this is an amazing option.

Old time fiddler here, I love this bow
I love this bow! I've only been playing old time fiddle for little over a year now, and the bow my fiddle came with was rather ordinary and lackluster in sound. This bow makes my fiddle sound much better, so I mostly leave it in my case for when I'm practicing so as to not put a lot of wear on it...but when I do go out to a jam session, I always use this bow for its superior sound.

Seems like a decent bow. Not for advanced players
A good backup bow for advanced, and a decent primary for beginning to imtermediate. My first carbon fiber bow so I'm still getting used to it

Great quality, value and craftsmanship
This is a fabulous bow for under $100. Because it's a carbon fiber bow it's not vulnerable to warping as a wooden bow, yet it looks exactly Ike a wooden bow because of the wood veneer. It is thin, straight, tapered well and is lite in the hand with a good feel. The craftsmanship is top notch. No one would know it's a carbon fiber bow. I've bought inexpensive wood student bows online that were visually thick, felt klunky and were a waste of money. I was so impressed with this bow I quickly bought another one.

I love this bow!
This bow surprised me with such Excellent quality for the price. I have many violin bows that are dysfunctional in one way or another. Not this bow! It is steady and plays easily on fast passages. It has a nice easy grip. Plus, it comes with a small rubber support to ease tension and stress on the inside of the thumb tip. What a fine bow this is. Beautifully handcrafted with care. I am getting another one asap.

After one and a half years of use, this bow broke.
I bought this bow in August of 2023. It is one of two that I use regularly. I play for 20-30 minutes a few times each week, so not a ton of use. This bow should last for many years. Instead, this morning, while playing for worship service at church, the tip of the bow snapped. (See my photo)In 47 years of violin playing, I’ve never had a bow break like this. A bow should be able to hold the tension of the horsehair when tightened properly for playing. There’s a seam, which was covered by varnish at the location where the break is, and this must be a weak point.I’m disappointed. I really liked the look of this bow, and I had never bought carbon fiber before. So I was excited to try it in this bow. The bow is fairly light, but I had no complaints about how it performed before the break this morning.

Balanced and Very Precise
For the price you pay that gains can be significant. The materials are not costly, but the bow plays very well. I am able to use flautando much better and more precise than I can with my more expensive sticks. Economy parts with skilled makers make a huge difference. I’m glad I paid attention to the comments and the ratings. Just saved me from my bow maker hitting me up again for another 8k!
