Works great
Our big boys (100lb ea) love having the freedom to check out the surroundings. They’re only on a lead when we travel and always supervised but I can attest to the durability as they have attempted to do some squirrel chasing! I love that I can put them, I have two tie outs, just far enough apart that the boys can lay close to each other but not get tangled up.

RETRACTABLE 20FT
The Lixit Bracket Mount and Stake Retractable Leash Tie Out (Medium) is a real handy tool for us dog owners down here. It gives our pups room to roam while keepin' 'em safe and sound within their boundaries. The retractable feature is a nice touch, makin' it easy to adjust as needed. Installing it was a breeze, and it's built sturdy enough to handle our playful dogs without a hitch. Overall, it's a reliable choice for keepin' our furry friends safe during outdoor adventures. Highly recommended, y'all!

Great, but don’t hold up and pricy!
The media could not be loaded. We love this product but it’s April and we bought them in Sept: One stopped retracting and on both the plastic is coming off and wires are frayed. They are really easy to use and are great for our dogs but they are pricey for the issues I listed.

This one won’t get tangled
Bought this for my 76 year old brother whose dog was always getting tangled in his chain and my brother had to constantly try to get him untangled. It works beautifully and the dog can move easily. This was a great purchase.

Issues You May Encounter
In general this retractable tie out works well. I have two issues. The piece used to protect the cap nut while pounding the stem into the ground is not made of metal. It is made of hard plastic. Mine shattered into small, sharp fragments of shrapnel that bounced off my eyebrow and punctured my skin. One inch lower and I may have lost my eye. I was pounding the unit into sand. The stabilizing spades on the stem are too close to the reel. When pounded into the ground to the suggested white mark, the reel is too close to the ground to work properly in grassy lawns. I will not repurchase this item.

Retracting mechanism failed ON THE VERY FIRST USE
I bought two of these for my puppies to use in our unfenced yard, so they could be outside with me while I'm doing yardwork. (I have a 15 year old one made by Flexi that still works, but only one, and the spring in the retractable mechanism was too strong for my puppies when they were small.) These looked nice and went into the ground just as described in the instructions. Because of our rainy fall and winter, I didn't use either one right away. I attached dog #1, she walked out the length of the cable; but when she came back to me, the cable didn't retract - at all. In testing the other one, before attaching dog #2, I was dismayed that it only retracted 2-3 feet of its 20 foot length - no more. So I pulled them out of the ground (red flag #2? if this older-than-dirt old lady can pull it out of the ground with my bare hands, could my 53 lb. dog, who can yank me off my feet for a squirrel, do the same?), and soaked them overnight in lubricant. It made no difference at all. Imagine - a product created for use in the outdoors that can't withstand the outdoors. Of course these were out of warranty, so I contacted the manufacturer to see if there was a way I could repair them. Not only do they strictly stick to their warranty period, I was told these can't be taken apart to be repaired. I wish the Flexi company still made theirs, because these are nothing more than expensive scrap metal.

Exactly what was needed.
I didn’t like the chain laying in the yard. Worried about the mowers running over it or me tripping on it. This took care of it. So far it works great. No complaints. There is no leader to it. I purchased a 10 foot chain to connect to it so it can reach the door so I don’t have to go outside every time I want to hook my pup up to it. Perfect set up.

Works well so far!
I purchased the "small" size of this product and it has worked well so far. I have been using it every morning for the last 2 weeks. My dog is about 20 pounds and not very aggressive so I don't know how well this product would hold up if you dog is prone to pulling, but for gentle use it works great! I love the retractable feature because I didn't want a long cable that my dog would get tangled up in. This cord is great and is never tangled! I am happy with it so far.

Keeps our English Bulldog where she’s supposed to be.
We have 2 dogs that we take to the trailer with us regularly, and they need to be leashed at all times. When we just had them both on screw in anchors they got tangled regularly(they play constantly). Since putting the smaller dog(52lbs) on this retractor we’ve had a lot less issues. Build quality seems good so far, we’ve been using for almost 2 months now with no issues. And bulldogs are notoriously hard on equipment as they’re such strong little balls of muscle. Installation was easy mounted to the side of our deck, and I’ve checked it several times with no sign of screws pulling loose. We’re getting another one for our sheep dog.

USE DEEPER SCREWS for attaching to posts etc.
I have 2 large afghan hounds, and they make good rough use out of these. We have ours hooked up to a zip line spanning the length of our yard, and they will run back and forth slamming the reel in to the edges of the line. With that kind of daily use, we replace these once a year. Even after the year, they are still in good shape, however, age, and weather, along with rough use, makes it a greater risk of failure. I buy 2 of these every year. Worth it!! If you are just using it as a standard tie out with no regular stress or tension, they will most likely last longer. Do NOT use the screws that come with the unit! Use longer screws as the ones that come with the reel are NOT deep enough to hold.

Not for small breeds, medium to large.
Unfortunately the tension was way to strong for my 13lb dog

Does the job
I've got 1 of these for my Dog at my workshop and it's a lot better than the old one, I didn't use the screws or nut and used better ones, the only other thing it could do with being longer but all in all its a good thing 👍
