Best choice on Amazon by far ... the other brand with this key ingredient, BCM-95, is much more expensive - Anyhow, BCM-95, is the top of the top and most researched from my understanding. The softgel form capsule means the fatty oil needed for proper absorption is already there. If using non-softgel form (regular capsule filled w/powder), be sure to take with some food that has decent amount of "fat". Never buy curcumin that doesn't have 100% of 95% standardized material, that's what all the researchers used in 99% of the studies out there. This standardized concentration of 95%, without any special processing, like BCM-95 undergoes, will stay in the blood stream for only 2-3 hours. The BCM-95 stays in the blood about 8 hours, so it's much more superior. But the regular 2-3 hour, standardized 95% curcumin, is far superior than non-standardized material, meaning just ground up plant/leaf material. Beware of tricksters that sprinkle in like 50 or 100 mg's of standardized 95%, but the rest is "whole plant" or leaves or however they phrase it. A LOT of that going on on Amazon. Price wise, you'll see a big uptick as you go from the almost worthless whole plant /leaves, to all 95% standardized, to the top level like this brand and a very few others... the softgel form is a big deal ... and the large count on this particular bottle makes it by far the best deal anywhere... this brands 60 count softgels, for about 30 bucks, is best deal I found for that count. This here is the best in quality by far and best value as well.

I have arthritis and NSAIDS were prescribed by my doc to take daily for inflammation. I eventually had to stop taking them because they tore up my stomach! My mechanic who also has arthritis told me to try turmeric and this stuff really works! (Nothing like getting medical advice from your mechanic, lol). For me, I take 500mg twice a day and I could tell a difference within 3 days. I have no side effects and have been taking it for about 30 days. I told my doc about it and he said great, if that works for you, keep taking it! A friend of mine has a daughter who is a doctor and she said some of her colleagues with inflammatory conditions swear by it! So it's really more than just hype. I have read that natural turmeric is not absorbed well by the body, so they've made this BCM-95 formula to be more absorbable. It's not a miracle cure or anything, but for me it does work just as well as an NSAID taken daily.

The main issue with taking curcumin is the question "is it being absorbed?" We take this with a gram of fish oil supplement on empty stomachs (at least 30 minutes before eating). It seems to be absorbed because of the following anecdata: my wife has low platelets, which means she bruises easily. Curcumin is a blood thinner as well. When she took 2 of these capsules a day (with the fish oil), she started bruising much more easily than normal. We cut back to 1 per day, and the bruising disappeared. For myself, when I took 2 per day, I found that small nicks when shaving didn't stop bleeding for longer than normal. So I conclude that something effective is being absorbed. Whether it will have the long-term health effects that we wish for is (of course) difficult to address.
