Pretty Good
Uzumaki without a doubt has got to be my favorite Junji Ito story thus far. The absolute horror masterpiece hooked me on reading Junji Itoโs work in the first place, ever since I saw that iconic image. Spirals from the start always fascinated me. Itโs one of the only shapes that seem to go on and on and never stop, and itโs honestly a beautiful one aswell. Thatโs most likely why I was so hooked to this story, from the art alone. How the spiral affected everything down to the blades of grass made it especially eerie. What I especially liked about Uzumaki and itโs psychological aspects is how the spiral affected everything and everyone in general. It can cause you to go mentally insane over it or it could even affect your physical appearance. How the spiral worked was mysterious and even by the end of the story you still donโt know. Speaking of the ending, I thought it couldnโt have a better one. The more and more this town was affected, the more and more things start to go wrong, leading to the ending where it becomes a spiral itself. The very end of the story was very bitter sweet, with Kirieโs family gone, and Shuichi who has given up on everything, they call back to โTwisted Soulsโ and become one. Uzumaki definitely is one of the most emotionally psychological Junji Ito stories that (just like a spiral) will never seem to endโฆ This is the end of my review for Uzumaki. A incredible introduction to the Junji Ito universe if youโre thinking about reading his works! As per usual, Iโll give my three favorite chapters for Uzumaki. 3.) The Black Lighthouse. The eeriness of this chapter is fantastic, and I like how the lighthouse is always there in the background throughout every chapter before it. 2.) Medusa. The visuals in this chapter alone are just stunning. It also is a perfect example on what the spiral can do with your sanity and how it makes you obsessed. 1.) Scar. Again another obvious favorite but itโs an iconic one. Itโs a perfect representation of the unexplained. This chapter could also be a bit of a call back to Tomie, where the boys become infatuated with Azamis beauty, obviously resulting in a fate worse than death.

Piece of art something to have in your manga collection
Bought this masterpiece for 790 from Cocoblu retail. Initially they sent me a defective manga with many printing and manga panel alignment errors but the replacement was totally good only the packaging was bad ( no bubble wrap only paper packaging). Coming to the artwork, it's good and eye pleasing, Sensei Junji Itou has done a really good work. And yes the manga is original, fellow otakus always check whether the seller is Amazon fullfiled or not before buying.

Great Manga, Terrible Packaging
Great horror manga, the story has some amazing twist and turns and if you like horror you can try. The book is a very good hardcover which looks amazing and paper and print quality is great too. What I don't like is how Amazon packed it. They just put it in a plastic bag and called it a day. Which obviously caused corner damage. It could have been worse but in my case it was squished only on spine.

Buy the original book for the best experience
Junji Ito is one of the best manga artists and best one in horror for me. So the way he tells the story is through the art. And Uzumaki is definitely his best work. There are a lot of fake Uzumaki available but I would to say buy the original because I have owned both of them the difference between the fake is original is huge. So please buy the original one

spiral into brilliance
uzumaki is my first juji ito manga and it certainly won't be the last, the man is a genius, this is one of kind story that you will never get to experience in any other medium and something you will never forget. The creativity that went into this piece of art is ridiculous and the idea of comedic disgusting body horror is brilliant!! , for some people the end of the manga might be underwhelming but i found it to be fitting,it is well written and this viz edition is absolutely worth it!!.

A spiral of true original horror
I got this off a list of recommended graphic novel lists and I'm glad I did! The artwork is amazing but truly the storytelling is creative, original and works completely from start to end, I'd recommend to any comic book fan.

Spiraling Into Comedy
I'm halfway through Uzumaki and I'm bursting out laughing at the increasingly ridiculous stories I'm reading... This reminds me more of 'Tales from the Crypt' rather than the actual horror manga it's being advertised as...

An absolute nightmare
I'm not much of a reader, I read maybe a novella or two a year. I haven't read a manga since maybe 2006. I could not put this down, save for a few minutes between chapters to process the sheer terror of what I'd just seen. I finished it entirely in a day and may go back and read it again tomorrow. This is a masterpiece of horror. I will warn, this is NOT for children, and certainly not for anyone who is uncomfortable with body horror. I had never heard of Junji Ito before. I've always loved horror and have been replaying Bloodborne when I decided to try reading Berzerk as I know that manga was a big inspiration for Miyazaki. As I browsed that listing I saw a suggestion for Tomie, the cover drew me in, and then this caught my eye. I regret nothing. Lately I've been reading Lovecraft... This was far more disturbing, like Lovecraft meets Silent Hill. The pace is perfect, the stakes are always somehow raised, and every time you think "how can this get any more crazy" it just does. MINOR SPOILER: I remember thinking on page 34 after something strange happens "Wow, having something that weird so early is pretty brave, how do you keep escalating from this?" I was not disappointed. This story has quickly risen to my favourites list. Top 5 to be sure. Physically the book is great, paper is thick and sturdy, printing is clear and sharp. My only complaint is that the pages will not stay open on their own like the Berzerk deluxe hardcover. I think this uses glue binding and the Berzerk is stitched. TLDR - still a better love story than Twilight.
