A nice item to supplement your front fender
I got this MudX today with a rough idea on how and where I wanted to mount it on my Jeep AWD mountain bike.I tried to mount it using the rubber straps that came with the item on the bike, but they were too flimsy for my liking. So I picked up 2 fatteners of the same type except longer, getting 2 stainless steel washers too. After a rough fitting of the MudX, I got my Dremel and smoothed out the 2 lower mounting holes.Putting some thread lock on the threads, I tightened them down snuggly. I’ll spray paint the fasteners with rust-preventing bed liner as soon as I can. This project turned out better than I expected. This MudX isn’t going to wiggle off; the rubber straps, hook, and loop straps are too lightweight for me.This MudX isn’t a great addition to my Christini Jeep mountain bike, keeping my water bottle and front derailleur clean and dry.I am very happy with all the SKS products I have bought and this MudX isn’t no exception!

Front down post fender
It’s a clip on front bicycle fender. I’ve only been in one rain storm so far but this “fender” worked pretty well, actually. I have a rear add on fender,as well, from the same company that I like. The front “fender” is held in place by 2 rubber straps. Yeah, I like it.

Works with limitations
This fender works as advertised. It is a good option for bikes on which it is hard to fit a front fender. The rubber straps are easy to install on a variety of down tube shapes. The rubber straps also make is easy to adjust the positioning of the fender as well. The functionality of the fender is limited to the spray that gets around the down tube. If the front wheel is turned in any way, the fender will not stop the spray off the front tire. I also found that in a heavier rain, more water adheres to the front tire and releases later in the tire's rotation .. spraying the face of the rider. For road biking, I don't think you stay any drier with this fender in steady rain. I can see it, however, being a big help riding through slush, mud, wet sand, or any other type of crud.

On three of my bikes, they work great
If you just want a simple splash guard on the bike, this works great.I have the guard on three bikes, and my eBike has a huge frame downtube, The SKS guard straps BARELY fits but it fits.

nice cheap mud guard - decently sized for its weight.
Very easy to install, will work on a wide range of bikes due to design. I have a bike with an incredibly thick carbon top tube, and it still fits perfectly. I'm not sure why people think this is too small - a lot of mountain bikes use one MUCH smaller than this. If you want a full front fender, then get a full front fender. This is not a fender, it is a mud guard - different thing. Fenders are meant to completely contain water at the tire, and have practically zero clearance. They have to be very carefully installed if you want to get the best performance. Mud guards like this are basically just a cheap piece of plastic that keeps 80-90% of the spray off you. It's MUCH better than nothing, and it can be taken on and off in a matter of seconds, whereas a real fender requires like 10 minutes and tools.

Works perfect
I use this on an electric tricycle to keep water from splashing up at me. Works great!

Easy mounting, limited effectiveness in rain
Mounted easily on my touring bike. No noticeable interference with my pedals or my down tube shift cables. Haven't ridden in rain yet to judge it's effectiveness but looks like it will do just fine. Hopefully the rubber mounting straps will stand the test of time.Update:Oct 2017, downgrading to 3 starsWhile on a tour I rode over three hours in a heavy rain storm. Also used it on the GAPCO where I had to trek through 30 miles of puddles and mud. From those experiences I can tell you this fender's effectiveness is limited at best. In fact, during heavy rain, any time I turned the bike the fender dumped the rain wash directly onto my bike shoes. The fender is good for keeping the occasional crud off your frame (as long as the wheel is pointed straight), but don't buy it expecting it to keep you dry. I'll be in the market for full fenders before my next tour.

Better than the cheap fork mounted ones
I replaced a fork mounted mudguard with this and I'm pleased with the product. The fork mounted one would always get in the way when I had to clean or wipe down the stanchions, and it would also get slightly knocked out of position after a rough ride where it would start making constant contact with the tire. This downtube mudguard is much easier to remove for a quick cleaning and does as good of a job against dust, mud, etc., from what I can tell.
