General Tools Digital Moisture Meter MMD7NP - Humidity Sensor- Pinless and Non-Invasive

I'm an insurance adjuster and need a meter to determine where water is and isn't. This does a wonderful job. I gave it 5 stars for it's price and ability limitations. However after not daily use but regular use it stopped working after a year. There's the Lost star. The pad on the back has worn thru, and it just stopped reading. It turns on and I thought it was the battery so I swapped it out with a new one. That didn't solve the problem. I bought another one because it's easy to use and cheap, I just would have liked it to last more than a year. And I put the old battery in the new meter and it still has most of the charge left, so storing the new battery for future use. Sad the battery lasted longer than the meter did... Now to those who would use this instead of a professional assessment, I would use this to conclude you NEED a professional, not to use yourself, because their equipment is WAY better and more accurate, and though your drywall may read dry, the problem is your wood studs inside the wall are most likely still wet and this meter won't tell you that. This is a great reference tool, but that is all it is, a reference tool, not a professional diagnostic tool. I will however still trust it daily to tell me what I need to know for my job. Also, almost all concrete reads wet with this meter, and most thin flooring reads wet or elevated if installed over concrete. Don't like that, but I just use a reference point I know it's not damaged and use that as the baseline and look for elevated areas above that.

Works as good as the boat surveyor's meter, who I paid $1000 to survey the boat prior to purchase. Could have saved $950. Handy little tool.

It seems to behave exactly as advertised. No prongs, just lay it against a surface, and gives you a reading.

Worked very well for us. Saved us from having to tear up the floor as the water eventually evaporated. According to this device.

very pleased. bought it to check out houses as we were looking to buy one. simple to operate, seems to be good quality. and the AI questions sections on this Amazon website help explain a lot about its operation. My only quibble is that the LED screen is sometimes difficult to read from certain angles, but using the AI questions I just learned that that’s what the “hold” button is for! (place the unit to get a reading, pull it out while holding the hold button, and the screen retains the reading!). RTFM I guess. oh, also it’s important to keep the sensor area protected and clean.

This may not be the most precise sensor but it is accurate at being able to locate the source of a potential leak or at least tell you if there is an underlying problem. I like that it is non penetrating so it doesn't leave any damage to the walls or ceilings. I've successfully used it to help find water leaks/damage in drywall walls & ceilings (including textured) and also PLAM (laminate) countertops. It helped confirm that a section of counter was actually water damaged and not a fabrication error or other damage, which lead to thankfully finding the source of the leak.

Battery plug was out of place and gave 10.1 as the result for EVERYTHING, even in the bathroom and when it wasn't touching anything Edit: I managed to fix it and it works fine!

Very effective tool for measuring moisture. Helped us find the area our leak was in. Delivered within hours

I bought this gadget to detect water leakage within the walls of my house. While the gadget works well, I am not too sure of the accuracy of its readings. Nevertheless, it serves well if you are interested in checking out for any water leakages without asking for true readings.

Good product. I bought two pieces later. Good performance.
