I used a somewhat compact, well ported enclosure that develops excellent bass response & a two way crossover @ 3500Hz, with a solid dome tweeter for mid-tweet response, coupled to a piezo horn for top-end treble.

Hello, I've received your question about the audiopipe APSP-1050 10 inch speaker.  You wrote, "can this use as mid-bass?"

A.)  This is a woofer speaker (evidenced by the open basket metal frame).  It is advertised as a Mid Range driver because modern manufacturing processes make it capable of extending the mid-range frequency performance out to 5000Hz.

B.)  Tuning a speaker to the desired frequency response requires a certain amount of luck, complemented with mechanical skills and lots of studying.  The format of these Amazon questions isn't (I think) flexible enough for me to post the sort of lengthy instruction this needs.  Therefore I'm listing two books from Amazon site which can illuminate the important role of a tuned enclosure, & can explain some of the physical science surrounding audio frequency manipulation, and hopefully give you an understanding of the electronic devices of a crossover circuit board, including capacitors, resistors, and inductance coils.

C.)  I imagine sound waves like the rock and roll sisters of the band HEART, Ann & Nancy Wilson have described them in one of their recordings as, "longitudinal auditory vibration disturbances."  A speaker cabinet face (where the speakers are bolted-in) is called a "sound board", a term which goes back to the history of musical instrument hand crafting.  (Think of that part of a piano where the hammers and strings are constructed and tuned.)  And imagine how the resonance of a hi-fi speaker transmits through the solid structure of the box, then you're on the right track to discovering how acoustics respond to differing panels.  Bass frequencies go every which direction, unless they are some way muffled.  Treble frequencies are highly directional, and so their drivers depend on small domes and horn shapes to 'reflect' the frequencies towards the listener.

D.)  Freebie example:  midrange drivers and tweeters are usually sealed on the back to stiffen their suspension enough that the agitation of the voice coil at high frequency is enhanced by the rigidity of the back space speaker area.  The woofer speaker develops better bass response by porting, allowing the voice coil and cone area to experience longer travel cycles associated with low frequencies.  Tuning a woofer to respond well in mid-range frequency demands firm mounting and restrictive porting.  Building a cabinet which internally restricts woofer coil travel reduces 'clipping' of the driver at high power levels, and shaping the port so that natural reverb escapes from front or back to complement your speaker environment is a balance of art and science.  Your mind is shaping that which is physical to adapt your sensory perception of that which is not seen.
