Higgidy: The Cookbook: 100 recipes for pies and more

I have had the Higgidy Cookbook on pre-order since I heard about it on the Higgidy Website and because I am such a Higgidy pie and quiche fan (always a stash in the freezer!). So now I have the cookbook I am really hoping to be able to produce some equally delicious food. You might be like me and think there isn't space on the shop shelves for another cookbook but the Higgidy cookbook has absolutely proved me wrong. It is a real delight (just read the note from the author at the front of the book above on 'click to look inside'). There are many recipes in this book that I have never seen or heard of before and really can't wait to try. I don't call myself a competent cook but reading this has already given me the confidence that I am going to be able to produce some great food. To me, it seems traditional but with a very trendy touch. My friends are going to be seriously impressed! Actually I think I am going to impress myself!! And if you don't like cooking but really enjoy reading cookbooks again I can thoroughly recommend this book. However, it is almost impossible to read any of the recipes without your mouth watering and wanting to have a go yourself! Have fun with your book . . . I am now going to order a few more copies as I already know it is a fail-safe Christmas present (yikes did I just mention Christmas in September - so sorry!)

We've all seen these products in the supermarkets, and they are very good, but the prices aren't quite as wonderful. So why not get the book and make them yourself at a fraction of the cost? I've got around 40 recipes that I like marked out and am very happy with the ones that I've already made.

Great book full of gorgeous recipes. I prefer a fully illustrated cookbook, so as not all recipes have a picture, it gets 4 stars.

I bought the Kindle version of this book, which is a knockout bargain. My partner does love his quiche lorainne, but mine has never been up to scratch - until now that is. What a fabulous recipe this one is in particular, and I basked in praise for the several days it took us to eat it (though you can get away without the proscuitto on the top if it is just for family eating). What's more, my partner doesn't fair well with gluten. This book has a gluten-free pastry, which is delicious and easy to make. It is very 'short' (i.e. crumbly) and full of lovely butter. I think the book it worth it for the gluten-free pastry recipe alone (if you have an issue with gluten). These recipes are not slimming, but they are so delicious that you only need to have a small slice to feel you have feasted. And if you are watching sugar intake rather than fat, you are laughing. Now, which one shall I make next? I can't wait.

We are already big fans of all things Higgidy so couldn't wait to lay hands on the new recipe book. It's beautifully presented - fun, colourful, full of strong images and clear instructions to bake up tasty treats. We have just wolfed down the 'little lemony lamb pies with feta mash' (except ours was one big family one!). Delicious combination of ingredients and easy to put together for a family meal or to impress friends. I will be buying plenty more books for Christmas presents and cooking up plenty more of these recipes to enjoy. Oh, and they're not all recipes for pies, in case you were wondering just how much pastry you could eat. There are lots of other great ideas inside this fabulous addition to any shelf of cookbooks, although it won't stay for long on the shelf! Our book is definitely going to be covered in crumbs and splashes in a short space of time - I can see it will be used on a regular basis.

Some great recipes in this book, for pie making, with a good range of ingredients, good to have as part of your collection.

I've had this book for nearly six weeks now and it's already become almost my most used cookbook ever, despite the fact that I'm a vegetarian and have very little time to cook. I've collected dozens of cookbooks over the years and although I enjoy leafing through them I rarely use them. This one gets used all the time and is out on the side almost permanently. Despite the long lists of ingredients the pies come together really fast and the end result has been - without exception - totally delicious every time. I substitute meat ingredients for Quorn or similar alternatives where necessary and they still taste divine, as well as being SO easy, particularly when I cheat and buy ready made pastry if I'm in a hurry. I haven't had one single recipe that I haven't wanted to make again in the near future. Very highly recommended.

This has something for everyone - whether you like pies or not. The recipes are easy to follow and they work! There is one for almost any occasion and so far each one that I have tried is really delicious. There are recipes for things that I've always wanted to make but never quite known how to. It is also a pleasure to look at with beautiful photography. Would definitely recommend this as a present for anyone. And make sure you buy one for yourself!
