Excellent book
I need to take the time to say this is a wonderful book. I work in the expressive arts when doing therapy with youth and found this book to be informative. This book is simple that it talks about how to use therapy and the expressive arts as a form of healing for the client. Straightforwardand very easy to read. You will enjoy it.It shows a difference between art therapies in which seek to look at the work and try to figure out its meaning. Expressive arts explained in this book states...only the client can say what they feel about what they do. I agree.I recommend this book to expressive arts therapist, expressive arts faciliatators, and counselors who want to learn how to use the expressive arts in their own work.

Review by a practicing clinician and professor of psychology
I have been reading this book all day--and can't tear myself away. It is eloquent and deep--intellectually, emotionally, and spiritually. The book communicates the clinical depth at which Natalie Rogers works with people--through a powerful integration of person-centered principles, deep reflective listening, and somatic-expressive work. The book genuinely communicates the power of the expressive therapies, which Natalie has been instrumental in developing to this level of human authenticity, interpersonal contact, and self-exploration.

I love it!!
As a required text as an Art Therapy student, I wasn't sure how much I would actually enjoy it. The more I read of it, the more I love it. Natalie Rogers takes her father's humanistic psychology basis and expands on it to explain the expressive therapies. She and I are on the same wavelength on so many aspects and it's awesome. I would recommend it to all art, music, dance, or play therapy students as well as anyone wanting to understand the expressive arts better.

Simply phenomenal -- Rogers carried on the grand tradition of humanistic psychotherapy put forth by her father, the legendary Carl Rogers, by adding an element of creative understanding that sets the standard for creative expression in psychotherapeutic practice. This is a necessity for any therapeutic practitioner, whether they "get" creative in session or not. Rogers' wisdom will make you a firm believer in the power of creativity!

Adorei!!

Brilliant
I am studying the creative arts in therapy and this book is brilliant. Rogers provides some great insight into the value of creativity and specific cases and examples of using art in practice with groups and clients. I have used this throughout the 3 years of studying; and it is easy to read.
