Very good book. I think it would be excellent for beginners. I'm pretty adept at PHP already, but learned a few really good tricks and techniques. It's an OK reference, but googling works even better.

Only for the beginners. As a reference, that too, a complete reference, this book lacks a lot. Like the mighty and very useful DateTime object is completely neglected, even a slight reference to cURL is missing. I bought this book after reading Javascript: The Complete Reference by Thomas Powell, which is tremendously insightful and tries to touch almost all aspects of Javascript - which is a mammoth task in itself considering the range of javascript and how lousily it had been developed. This book is not that comprehensive. Not much useful. Just okay for general purpose.

As the name syggests the book is complete reference for the PHP. The language is lucid and very easy to understand. Author has used a simple approach to provide the HTML code and the output on the screen which would result when the PHP file is executed on the server side.
