A great read!' -- ***** Reader review 'The Universe in a Nutshell is the best popular science book I have ever read' -- ***** Reader review ****************************************************************************** Stephen Hawking's A Brief History of Time was a publishing phenomenon and continues to captivate and inspire new readers every year . When it was first published in 1988 the ideas discussed in it were at the cutting edge of what was then known about the universe. In the intervening years there have been extraordinary advances in our understanding of the space and time. The technology for observing the micro- and macro-cosmic world has developed in leaps and bounds. During the same period cosmology and the theoretical sciences have entered a new golden age and Professor Stephen Hawking has been at the heart of this new scientific renaissance. Now, in The Universe in a Nutshell , beautifully illustrated with original artwork commissioned for this project, Stephen Hawking brings us fully up-to-date with the advances in scientific thinking. We are now nearer than we have ever been to a full understanding of the universe. In a fascinating and accessible discussion that ranges from quantum mechanics to time travel , black holes to uncertainty theory and the search for science's Holy Grail - unified field theory (or in layman's terms the 'theory of absolutely everything' ), Professor Hawking once more takes us to the cutting edge of modern thinking.

A fantastic book for anyone interested in learning about the science of cosmology & astronomy.
As some who has been fascinated with astronomy and related subjects for more than 7 decades, I am always seeking out books and other material to increase my knowledge. This is why when I saw this 216-page hard cover edition while browsing on Amazon (The universe in a nutshell by Stephen Hawking) I decided to purchase this fantastic book. This book is filled with clear and detailed illustrations. This volume provides an overview of numerous research discoveries that have changed the way we think about the cosmos. This book was written after his most popular bestselling book, “ A brief history of time.”This excellent book is organized into 7 chapters covering the following material: “A brief history of relativity, the shape of time, the universe in a nutshell, predicting the future, protecting the past, our future Star Trek or not, and brane new world.”The late Stephen Hawking has a unique way of explaining the complex astronomical and cosmological theories in a way that even non-scientists understand. If you are a fan of Stephen Hawking’s books this is one you may want to check out.Rating: 5 Stars. Joseph J. Truncale (Author: Tactical principles of the most effective Combative Systems).
